Down on the Farm Class Kit

(click on photo for a more detailed view)

Welcome back to GinaK's Blast from the Past blog hop week!  While many of the other designers are sharing stamp sets designed by Theresa and Rupa, I'm sharing another card kit with you that I designed for the adorable Down on the Farm stamp set.  It's one of the first GinaK stamp set I purchased and still one of my favorites!

The Down on the Farm Class kit includes:
  • GinaK cardstock - heavy white, smokey slate, bubblegum pink, ocean mist, creme de menthe
  • Silver eyelets
  • 1 yard 5/8" pink gingham ribbon
  • Printed instruction sheet with measurements to complete the 5 projects shown in photo above
Now that those details are out of the way, let's look at each project in a bit more detail...

First up, is the sheep tag that would be perfect for a card front for a little birthday boy.  It could also work as a tag for a gift bag, by punching a hole at the top of the tag and threading some string through it and tied to the gift bag's handle.  I love the numbers cuttlebug folder as I always think of 'counting sheep' when I see an image of a lamb.

Stamps: Down on the Farm (GKD)
Ink: Black Memento
Cardstock: GinaK - white, smokey slate, ocean mist, creme de menthe, bubblegum
Other: Copic markers, liquid applique, clear glitter, heat tool, corner rounder,  silver eyelets, scallop square nestability

The sheep image in all my samples was colored a bit with copic markers.  To add a fluffy feel to the sheep, I applied liquid applique to the wool section and sprinkled with clear glitter before heating it with a heat tool.  The glitter helps the applique to puff up nicely without getting too crazy as well as adds some sparkle - which is always fun. To see Gina's video on how to use liquid applique, please check out her video here.

This next card is pretty basic, so the emphasis is on this adorable little piggy.  I rounded a couple of corners and used the seeing spots embossing folder to help reinforce the 'roundness' of the little birthday pig.

Cardstock: GinaK - white, smokey slate, creme de menthe, bubble gum pink, ocean mist
Other: Seeing spots cuttlebug embossing folder, corner rounder, 1/4" hole punch & eyelet setter, silver eyelets, copic markers, stardust stickles

The next card is my favorite of this bunch - look at how cute those animals are peeking out their 'windows'!  I stamped the images on white cardstock and used a 1 3/8" square punch to punch out the section of the image that I wanted to show.

Cardstock: GinaK - white, smokey slate, creme de menthe, bubble gum pink, ocean mist
Other: 1 3/8" and 1 1/2"square punches, pink gingham ribbon, scoring tool, liquid applique, clear glitter, copic markers, silver eyelets, 1/4" hole punch & eyelet setter

This little cow card cracks me up - that sentiment is too funny, isn't it?  This card could easily be made for all the other images as well, as the sketch is generic enough to work with all the farm animals in this set.

Stamps: Down on the Farm
Ink: Black Memento
Cardstock: GinaK - white, black, bubblegum pink, creme de menthe
Other: corner rounder, spellbinder plain and petite scallop circle dies, paper piercer, copic markers, stardust stickles, silver eyelets, 1/4" hole punch & eyelet setter, pink gingham ribbon

Last, but certainly not least is this floral wheelbarrow card that I decided to leave sentiment free, so that it could be used for any occasion.  The focal image was stamped over and over on the green cardstock in Versamark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  Then, I used some green scraps to create a bit of grass for the stamped wheelbarrow, so that it didn't look like it was 'floating' off the paper.

BarnYard Animals Scrapbook Page

I have a quick post tonight with some things I want to make sure to mention here on my blog. Tomorrow I'll be at GinaK Design's Open House all day and am not sure I'll have time to do all this tomorrow. And, I can't do a blog post without some eyecandy, right?

First of all, I want to remind everyone of my Birthday Blog candy that ends tomorrow, Saturday January 31st. I have been forgetting to link the post in my last few blog posts and wanted to make sure to mention it one last time. Check it out if you haven't done so yet. I have really enjoyed reading everyone's comments. Thanks for taking the time to do so.

And, if you're looking for some more awesome blog candy, Gina is having a Copic giveaway on her blog - check it out!

Second, my PaperCraft Planet Sketch ends today -I'll announce the winner tomorrow. I have been enjoying everyone's cards and am glad that I do random numbers to choose the winners because it's so hard to choose!!

Last of all, I will be hostessing a Scrapbook Challenge on Splitcoast Stampers on Sunday, February 1st for their VSBN weekend. If you have a chance - check that out on Sunday. The winner there will get to chose a free GinaK Stamp set of their choice valued at $19.95 or less.

Whew... okay, now on to the eyecandy.... Check out this sparkly chicken -

In honor of my SCS scrapbook challenge coming up, I thought I'd share another layout that I completed recently for my Basic Grey Cupcake 6x6 Scrapbook. This paper has been perfect for all the pages!

For this layout, I used GinaK's Barnyard animals found in Poultry in Motion and Down on the Farm. I love these cute little critters! I stamped in black memento ink and colored with Copic markers and highlighted some of the areas with stickles and some Judikins' straw speckles.

Aren't Gina's chickens perfect for this photo? Here's close-up of two more little chickens...

Here's the second layout - this one of Ashley in the go-cart made me think of Gina's adorable wagon. I had to put a couple of her sheep in the wagon so they could go for a ride...

I used white liquid applique for the white sheep and a grey marker with stardust stickles for the other one.

Have a great weekend!

Barnyard Explosion Box

Good morning!

Have you ever made an Explosion Box before? This was my first attempt and I love how fun it was to make and decorate!

I found a great tutorial and tweaked it to make it my own. I have a hard time following directions exactly. I like to experiment and see how many embellishments I can add. I learned a few things along the way with this one that will help me when I made another one. This one is a little too full and doesn't close very easily, but I couldn't stop myself from adding lots of embellishments!

My family photos are peeking out, so that you can see that I made the flaps into pockets. The stamps are all animals from a variety of Gina's stamp sets. They are all colored in with Koh-i-noor pencils, OMS, and blending stumps. Then, I went a little wild with the embellishments - googlie eyes, flock, glitter, ribbons, paper punches, liquid applique, flowers, mini eyelets, brads etc. It's really busy!

The cover has flock for grass and the bunnies have liquid applique for fluffy tails. Love the texture both of these elements add to my projects! The paper is all Stampin Up: Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, River Rock, Sahara Sand, and Whisper White solid cardstocks and Porcelin Prints Designer Paper.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest of your day!

Jessica

If you are looking for animal stamps that are oozing with personality, you need to look no further than GinaK Designs! Just look at those faces? Don't they look like they're ready to jump off the paper and come to life?

No matter if you use her awesome Koh-i-Noor Pencils & Odorless Mineral Spirits, the amazingly vibrant Peerless Watercolors she sells in her store (although I can't find them on her online store right now), or even Sakura's Glitter pens, they all turn out so cute!

These are just 4 cards that I've made over the past few months that were super quick and easy. When you have awesome stamps, you don't need to do much work to show them off, do you?

Have a great day! We're off to a Waterpark for an over-nighter with the kids today! They are so excited!
