Let's "Shell-ebrate" grandpa!

Good morning!

Today I have a card to share with you that I made for my dad for Father's Day this year.  He loves fishing and just got back from his annual fishing trip up north, so I thought it would be fun to make his card this year using Lawn Fawn's Critters in the Sea stamp set.

He has 7 grandchildren, so I made sure to add seven sea creatures on his card - luckily there were plenty of animals to choose from in this fun stamp set!  I paper pieced each animal on some patterned paper scraps from My Mind's Eye and did some Copic coloring on them for shading.  Lots of very fussy cutting but it was worth it!

It may be a bit hard to tell, but I layered a vellum embossed circle over the scallop circle die cut to soften it a bit.  I thought the zig zags reminded me of waves a bit.  I didn't like how the scallops got a bit lost with all the images layered over it, so I free hand drew a few dashes and lines around the entire die cut.

The sentiment is from Paper Smooches' Party Posse stamp set.  I spelled out 'Grandpa' using Paper Smooches Mini Monograms alphabet stamp set.

Enjoy the rest of your day!
Jessica

Swanky Snowdudes!

Hi there!

I'm popping in to share a card I made using some adorable Paper Smooches snowman images!  While I'm not a bit fan of snow or winter, I've been wanting to add this super quirky Swanky Snowdudes to my collection for quite a while.  And, when I saw the current Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is 'anything goes' - I thought I'd get these dudes out to play!

As you can see from my card I used the coordinating dies to cut out the snowdudes from white linen card stock and did a bit of coloring with some Copic markers.  The 'greetings' sentiment is from the same stamp set and the Christmas word die set.  I die cut it twice - once in kraft and once in red and off-set layered it for a bit of dimension.

Have a great day - thanks for stopping by!

Quilt Dies: Take 3

Good morning!

I'm back with my third post sharing a couple of cards I made with the fabulous WPlus9 Quilt Cuts dies.  (You can see my first post and my second post here.)

My first card uses the Quilt Cuts 1 die - that flower is so fun!  Once again, I used lots of scrap patterned papers from different My Mind's Eye paper packs.  I used my old Marvy circle and scallop circle paper punches - remember those?  Since MME patterned paper isn't very thick, the punches work perfectly.

The sentiment is from Paper Smooches chit chat stamp set.  I recently picked up a couple of sentiment stamp sets from Paper Smooches and love them.  The fonts Kim uses are so fun!  To finish off the flower I added a small little seaweed stripe baker's twine bow.  Then, I wrapped the same twine around the entire card front several times.  A couple of copic markers blended together in the sentiment were added to help tie in the green twine.

My last card is a smaller one - I don't remember off hand the size but I think it's 3 3/4 x 5.  I used the same Quilt Cuts 1 die and this time cut it out of lots of Die Cuts with a View textured scrap papers and then added them on the card at random.  After they were adhered, I used my sanding block to 'shabby' them up a bit.  The sentiment is from The Craft's Meow Stitched Sentiments.

Have a great weekend!

Quilt Dies: Take 2

Hi there!

I'm back with another couple of cards that I made using WPlus9's Quilt Cuts dies.  My first card uses the same Quilt Cuts 2 die that I used on my other two cards that I shared a couple of days ago.  This card is pretty busy, with lots of patterns going on!  Once again, the papers are all from My Mind's Eye.  The twine for my first card is The Twinery's cappuccino stripe.

The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Chit Chat stamp set.  I stamped it in black ink and then used a W2 Copic markers to add some shading around it a bit.

My second card uses another set of WPlus9 dies called Quilt Cuts 1.

The sentiment is from the same Paper Smooches Chit Chat stamp set - such a fun sentiment set!  I tied a tiny little seaweed stripe baker's twine bow to the center of the button.

I have one more post with a couple more cards that I made with these quilt dies - they were so fun to play with!  I don't quilt in real life, but give me some paper, dies, and adhesive and I'm good to go! lol!

Have a great day - I'll be back soon with more ideas!

Thanks, i{heart}papers!

Hi There!

Today's the big day - our first day of school!  We've had a wonderful summer and I've gotten lots of things done around my house the past couple of months.  I'm sure this week getting back into the routine of school, soccer games/practices, etc. will be tough, but it's all good.  I'm always exhausted the first couple of weeks of school, even more so now that I teach the littlest ones at school but once again, it's all good.  I'm blessed to have such a rewarding job and one that I can do where I see my own children often throughout the day.

I have a sweet card to share with you that I made using a couple of stamps that you can find over at i{heart}papers if you don't have them in your stash yet.  I had a wonderful couple of months guest designing for Kate the past couple of months.  If you haven't check out her store yet, you really should.  She has top notch customer service and products available.  Thanks for the opportunity, Kate!

Card Details
Stamps: Happy Harvest (WPlus9) and Simply Said (Paper Smooches)
Ink: Stampin Up; Versafine
Card stock: PaperTrey ink solid; My Mind's Eye patterned
Accessories: Seam binding ribbon; Recollections wood butterflies; sewing machine; Stampin Up marker spritzer with Distress markers; WPlus9 Label Layers 5 die; paper doily

Unfortunately, I can't find the Happy Harvest stamp set online over at i{heart}papers as it must be sold out right now, so I linked the WPlus9 site.  I also used Paper Smooches Simply Said sentiment stamp set.

I hope your kids have a great day of school today, especially if it's their first!
Have a great day!
Jessica
