12 Days of Christmas: Day 2
Hi again!
I mentioned a little earlier tonight that we are having a super fun 12 Days of Christmas Event on PaperCraft Planet, helping us kick off the Christmas season! Have you had a chance to see all the amazing cards everyone has been working on for Day 1: A Partridge in a Pear Tree? Everyones cards are so great!
Saturday, November 29th's theme is Day 2: Two Turtle Doves and I'm the lucky hostess! Here's my challenge - make a card or project using either a dove or a turtle stamp. Now, if you don't have either image in your collection, use my example as an inspiration and use 2 elements from it to case - such as embossing folders & twinkling H2O's or vellum & cording ... get the idea?
Since this is a holiday event, if you could make your project a Christmas themed one that would be great! I can't wait to see what everyone will be coming up with!
Card details: Stamps: Christmas Blessings & The Magic of Christmas (GKD); Paper: Vellum, Pure Luxury 80lb. (GKD), Vellum (GKD), Doodlebug's Flocked paper; Cuttlebug & Embossing folder, Glitter Dots; Twinkling H2O's; aqua painter, Silver Cording; Bazzil black & white ribbon; Rhinestones; Versafine Black ink; Detail Clear Embossing Powder
This challenge is just for fun - don't worry about specifics. All vendors are fair game too. There are only 2 rules for you to remember:
1. Upload your card to PCP by Sunday, November 30th at 12:01 AM (CST).
2. Include the tag 12day2 - that way I can find it and put it in our Day 2 Album. It will also insure that your project will be entered to win a fabulous gift from our sponsor for Day 2: Cat's Pajamas.
Tag FYI: When you upload your card, there will be a section under your photo where you can add the specific details about your card. In the section that says tag, type in 12day2. The network doesn't automatically put your photo in the correct album, but it will group all the photos together that have the same tag. It acts just like the keyword section does on Splitcoast.
I will go through the photo gallery and put the photos in the album when I have the chance during the day tomorrow. If you are looking for inspiration click on the tag line in my photo on PCP and it will bring up all the other entries that have been uploaded.
Have fun!

Twinkling Strawberries
Good morning!I wanted to share a card using Twinkling H2O's. For a soft glowing background, I washed a light yellow over the entire image. For the wash, I added several drops of water into the paint pot, stirred it after a few seconds, and then spread the diluted paint with a flat brush. The best results will be achieved by using watercolor paper.
My favorite way to watercolor with these fun little paint pots are to use a paint brush and a dish of water - the old fashioned way of watercoloring! I usually empty my aqua painter barrel because I love my Niji Fine aqua painter brush tip. Dip your brush in water, touch it to the paint pot and watercolor away, working from lighter to darker colors. The less water you use, the more sparkle.
I also like to stamp my image in Black Versafine Ink and clear emboss it on watercolor paper. The embossed lines helps the keep the paint inside the lines. It also adds a shine to the finished image.
This was a card we made at a recent Twinkling H2O class. I love the summery feel these colors all worked together to make. We used Nana's Nursery DCWV paper pack - those papers are some of my favorites.
Have a great rest of your weekend!
Jessica

Twinkling H2O Class Cards
Good morning!Today's cards are a couple of the ones that we made at last week's Twinklin H2O class that I had at Gina's store. I forgot to take a photo of the third one... oops!
The first card shows watercolor washing. We added several drops of water to a Pink Paint Pot and let it sit for a few minutes to start dissolving into the paint. After a few minutes, we took out flat paint brush to stir the paint, adding more water if it wasn't a blendable consistency. The paint becomes almost like an acrylic paint, which makes it super easy to paint a background with. On my sample card, I used a lightweight watercolor paper that I picked up at Archivers, but at the class we used a heavy 140lb. watercolor paper which worked much better. Because the paint is heavy and wet, a heavier paper is best. All their washes look better than mine because of it.
After the paint dried, we stamped the T-Shirt in Black Stazon and everyone decorated their tees the way they desired. We used an awesome Basic Grey paper pack for the main papers and the coordinating fibers, buttons, and glazed brads to accent. I love it when things coordinate so easily, don't you?
This second little card is just 2x2 - isn't it cute? Perfect for tucking into a little gift bag. We used Nana's nursery Girl paper pack and picked paint colors to match the sparkly paper. Then, we painted directly onto the rubber stamps and stamped the two images onto Bazzil Textured white cardstock. This technique is a little tricky with these paints because if you get too much water on your paint, you loose the crispness of the image, but if you don't use enough water, you won't be able to stamp it at all. Thus the small size of this card... more time to practice the technique!
Have an awesome rest of your day and thanks for checking in with me today!

Class Samples
Card Details: Framed Flowers; Bazzil & DCWV Textured Cardstocks, SU whisper white, K&Co. DSP; Cuttlebug, Embossing Folder; Nestabilities; Reinkers: Olive, Ruby & Pumpkin (SU); Baby Wipe, Sanding BlockHi!
I'm sorry to say that I haven't had an opportunity to stamp anything new over the past few days... Don't you hate it when life gets in the way of playing! LOL! So, I decided to share some cards I designed for a few of the classes I have recently taught at Gina's store in McFarland.
The first card was one from the Background Basics Class showcasing a couple of techniques: Baby Wipe Stamping & Selective Cuttlebug. We ended up doing 6 or 7 techniques at this class and it was one of my favorite classes that I've taught so far! We played with shaving cream, babywipes, pastel chalks to name just a few.
Gina sells an awesome Rubber Stampin Technique DVD that she produced a few years ago. I used the first of her 3 part DVD set as inspiration for the class. Splitcoast Stampers has a great tutorial for the baby wipe technique if you haven't seen it yet. Indigo Inkling has some awesome Cuttlebug tips. She has a lot of tips for selective dry embossing with the cuttlebug embossing folders.
Card Details: Baskets of Happiness; SU gable green, watercolor papers; Nestabilities; Cuttlebug; Twinkling H2O's; Aqua painter; Peerless Watercolors; Versamark; White Embossing powder This second card is a Shop & Stamp card. We had severe weather roll through our area that day though, so only a few stampers were able to make it into the store that night. I loved how this little square card turned out though and thought I'd share it today.
The card base is embossed with a square nestability. The image is cut out of watercolor paper with a smaller square to 'nest' inside the embossed square on the base. The basket is stamped in Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder. Then, a wash of light green Twinkling H2O is brushed over the entire square to help the image pop. The basket is painted with Peerless Watercolors and an aqua painter. I love using these two paints together.
Card Details: Botanical Dreams; Bazzil Textured, K&Co. DSP, SU ww; Nestabilities, Cuttlebug, Glitter Dots, Koh-i-noor Pencils, OMS, blending stumps; stickles ; Black StazonThis last card is one from an Odorless Mineral Spirit class. The card is very basic, so that we would have lots of time to practice our coloring techniques. This is one of my favorite stamp images to use for coloring classes - it looks great colored with any medium! Thanks for stopping by today!
