Summer Harvest Scrapbook Pages

Good evening!

Tonight I'm sharing a couple of scrapbook pages that I made with the Summer Harvest Card kit supplies and stamp set.  The papers, eyelets, and ribbon are all part of the kit and with a bit of sewing, coloring, and embellishing I was able to make a double layout spread with some favorite photos of my kids to display on this year's Christmas calendar pages.  I'm so excited to have a good stash of pages started already!

Scrapbook pages details
Stamps: Summer Harvest
Ink: Memento; Versamark
Cardstock: GinaK white, black, red hot, dandelion yellow, and green apple
Other: Spellbinder eyelet pendant and border dies and label 12 dies; scor-tape; sewing machine; clear embossing powder; copic markers; crystal lacquer; buttons; twine; sakura glitter pen; Quikutz scallop border dies; paper piercer; SU ABC dies

Here's a few close-up views of some specific details of the pages...

And, here's the cards that I designed for the Summer Harvest kit - all made with the same papers, ribbon, and eyelets!

Thanks for checking in on me today! Have a great rest of your day!

Summer Harvest Card Kit

(click on photo for a more detailed view)

Welcome to day 4 of the Blast from the Past GinaK blog hop event!

Tonight, while the other designers are sharing favorite stamp sets from Asela and Carolyn, I'm sharing another class kit that I designed for GinaK's Summer Harvest stamp set.  I love the bright and cheerful colors of this kit and hope you do too!

Summer Harvest Class Kit Contents:
  • GinaK Cardstock - heavy white, black onyx, dandelion yellow, green apple, and red hot
  • Silver eyelets
  • 1 yard satin red polka dot ribbon
  • Printed instruction sheet with measurements and details for each project shown in the photo above
Let's look a bit closer at each card in the class kit ...

This first card's sentiment can easily be swapped out for a different one from the stamp set.  I know I usually need more birthday cards than any other occasion, so I like to 'defer' to that sentiment when I'm making cards.

Card Details
Stamps: Summer Harvest (GKD)
Ink: Black Memento
Cardstock: Red hot, black, dandelion yellow, green apple, white
Other: Seeing spots & candy cane cuttlebug embossing folder, silver eyelets, 1/4" hole punch & eyelet setter, copic markers, scallop border punch, paper piercer & template, sakura glitter pen, crystal lacquer, 1/4" score tape; black polka dot satin ribbon
**********

Each focal image in this class kit has been stamped on scrap white cardstock, colored with copic markers, highlighted with a glitter pen, and then cut out and popped up on the card front. After the card/s were completed, I put a layer of crystal lacquer over the entire image and then set it aside to dry overnight.  You want to make sure to save this embellishment for last as it takes quite awhile for the lacquer to dry.  I just love the shine and pop that the glossy dried lacquer gives to these images - they look like epoxy stickers that are all the rage right now!

This is one of my favorite layouts of the bunch - I have to remember this one for future cards!  To get that nice glow to the tomato image, be sure to use a yellow, orange, and red for your shading with your copic markers or colored pencils.  It's surprising how much of a difference that yellow can add to your shading.

This is the one card that doesn't have the focal image popped up.  Once again, the sentiment can easily be swapped out for the sentiment of your choice as there is plenty of room on the white panel.  The ribbon treatment was done with a strip of 1/4" scor-tape and then adding the ribbon by tucking it (or 'ruffling' it under itself as shown below).  Love this look - as I'm sure you can tell from my latest few class kit samples!

The last project is a little gift card/tag that can be added to a gift bag or tucked inside a gift box.  I tied the extra ribbon to the top of it to show how easy it could be to loop the ribbon around the gift bag handles.  You can see that I used the sketch from the tomato card above for this little mini card ...

Twinkling Strawberries

Good morning!

I wanted to share a card using Twinkling H2O's. For a soft glowing background, I washed a light yellow over the entire image. For the wash, I added several drops of water into the paint pot, stirred it after a few seconds, and then spread the diluted paint with a flat brush. The best results will be achieved by using watercolor paper.

My favorite way to watercolor with these fun little paint pots are to use a paint brush and a dish of water - the old fashioned way of watercoloring! I usually empty my aqua painter barrel because I love my Niji Fine aqua painter brush tip. Dip your brush in water, touch it to the paint pot and watercolor away, working from lighter to darker colors. The less water you use, the more sparkle.

I also like to stamp my image in Black Versafine Ink and clear emboss it on watercolor paper. The embossed lines helps the keep the paint inside the lines. It also adds a shine to the finished image.

This was a card we made at a recent Twinkling H2O class. I love the summery feel these colors all worked together to make. We used Nana's Nursery DCWV paper pack - those papers are some of my favorites.

Have a great rest of your weekend!
Jessica

August Stop & Stamp Cards

Hi!

These two cards are the ones we'll be making at Saturday's Stop & Stamp monthly event at GinaK's store in McFarland. Each month, I teach a modified make and take event. We do 2 cards showing different techniques and new products that we carry in the store. The cost of the class is $5 or free with a $50 purchase. The class times are from 10:30-3:00 on Saturday, August 23rd. I hope you can come if you are in the area!

This first card shows off a new line of paper we saw at CHA. We have several different paper packs from this company in the store. She'll be adding them to her online store soon. Gina's Halloween Trick or Treaters Card she shared here shows off another paper pack - all in Black & White. The paper comes in a 6x6 pad, is double sided and has a great lightweight feel to it - perfect for layering. It also has texture to it - a lot like the DCWV paper does.

The first card's image will be colored with Copic markers. We just began carrying two awesome ink pads for your Copics - Memento and Ranger Adirondack. They make using Copics a dream. This class is a great way to try out Copics if you haven't been able to do so yet.

This photo shows the inside of the card. Everyone will be able to choose the paper that they want to use from this paper pack called. We're going to be using the entire sheet of 6x6 paper - can you see how we'll squeeze it all in? The front will be cut to 4x6 and then scored and folded up to reveal the backside of the paper; the inside will be lined with a 2x4 panel; and the left over 2x2 square will have it's corners rounded and serve as a layer for the scalloped circle! WHEW - see no waste! No scraps! Yay!

Did you notice the dots around the Marvy Scallop Circle? It was made with some new Pentel Metallic Pens we found at CHA. They are really neat and great ones to add to your pen collection - if you're a pen addict like I am! I can never have enough of them! I pierced a hole in each scallop first and then went around the hole with the pink pen.

The last card shows off Ranger's Alcohol inks that we just began carrying in the store. Thank you, Gina! I'm so excited that we have them now! We'll also use a new Cuttlebug folder and highlight it with a Cream Chalk Cat's Eye - I actually used it to highlight the entire card. It also uses the amazing new Fiskar's border punch - don't you love it?

I hope you enjoyed the peek at Saturday's cards! Hope to see you there!

Shiny Berries!

Hi!

If you're able to stop by GinaK's store on Saturday for our Stop & Stamp - here's one card we'll make together. There's a slight difference between these two cards: the designer papers and how I applied the Colored Crystal Lacquer.

On the top card, I colored over the stamped image with Sakura's Glitter pen and then filled in the shapes with a variety of colored Crystal Lacquer. Below, I skipped the glitter and colored only with Crystal Lacquer.

They are both great looks - it will be fun seeing which one everyone chooses to make!

Card Details: Summer Harvest; Giga Circles Frames; Black stazon; Bazzil and DCWV dsp; SU ww; Nestabilities; Colored Crystal Lacquer; Sakura glitter pen
