Wish Big

Hi there!

This morning I'm joining the 7Kids College Fund design team in this week's challenge.  The theme this time is "Red, White, and Blue" - just in time for the 4th of July holiday that we celebrated over the weekend.  I took a bit of liberty with the challenge and added a bit of yellow Y000 (shaded with a bit of red R01) for the chicks and added a few touches of green for the grass, but otherwise stuck to the color challenge pretty well.

I used the adorable Garden Friends stamp set from Penny Black for the chick image - aren't they cute all stacked up together?  The sentiments are from Critter Party and Micey Day.  I stamped the images on Copic Xpress it card stock and after die cutting & embossing the image, I shaded around the die a bit for the 'sky' and to highlight the chicks a bit.

On a sad note, this is my last post as a design team member for 7Kids College Fund.  I'm stepping down since I'll be heading back to teaching this fall and have been paring back on my design team commitments in preparation for this big career shift.  It's been a pleasure working with the entire 7Kids team!  All the girls are SO talented and the 7Kids' online store is one of the best online stores out there for customer service and products.  Thank you SO much for these past 6 months of working together!!

Be Yourself!

Hi there!

My card today uses this super cute image from The Greeting Farm Hats Off stamp set.  I love how 'sassy' she looks with that hat and would like an outfit just like hers too!  Miss Anya is pretty stylish, I think! lol!

A Grateful Heart

Puppy Kiki

Hi there!

I created this card with a coworker in mind who recently had to put their family dog down.  It was a very difficult decision but was best since her 13 year old dog had lost use of her legs and was deteriorating day by day.  I think this C.C. Designs image called Puppy Kiki is so cute and would bring a smile to her face - especially since her dog was actually a St. Bernard, obviously much larger than the dog image!

Birthday Wishes

Hi there!

I'm back with a new 7Kids Challenge Fund post this morning.  The new two week challenge has been issued by Suzanne and she asked us to create a card using the sketch below and being sure to make it a BEACH themed card.

I flipped the sketch a bit and used this Miss Anya image from The Greeting Farm Miss Anya Love stamp set. I placed her in the petite oval die cut, surrounded by the die cut waves so that it looked like she is playing with the beach ball in the water.

Embrace Happiness

Hi there!

The new 7Kids College Fund Challenge has been issued!  Each challenge runs for two weeks, so you have plenty of time to play along with us and Tab always has a great prize up for grabs - so, we hope you'll be able to play with us for this challenge.  The theme this time is Circle Cards.  Create a circle card with any stamp set that the 7Kids College Fund online store carries, add the link to the Challenge blog and you're set!

Celebrate!

Hi!

My card today is a bright cheerful one that I created with Penny Black's To You stamp set and several colors of Sakura Glaze pens.  I stamped the images on white card stock in Versafine ink and clear embossed them.  I did that so that when I used the glaze pens (which have a tendency to spread out quite a bit) that the ink would stay in the lines and I wouldn't lose any of the details of the images.  Then, I set them aside to dry for a bit.

The card front itself is embossed with a large petite oval die and then layered onto yellow card stocks.  I don't use yellow enough for my cards - I love how bright and sunny this turned out, especially with that fun polka dot bow!

After the glaze had dried, I carefully cut around the entire image and mounted it on the card front as shown.  The sentiment is also stamped in Versafine ink and clear embossed.

Good morning!

Isn't this image adorable?  She is Flower Girl by Gillian Roberts for Stampavie and I adore here as I'm sure you know, since I just used her last week.  She reminds me of my Ashley who loves outdoors and flowers AND her rain boots! lol!  The card itself is quite simple, so the focus is completely on Ms. Flower Girl.  I want to remind you of this week's 7Kids Challenge Fund two week theme is April Shower or May Flowers... we'd love to see you play along with us!  You have until next Wednesday to enter your card in our challenge.

Penny Black Guest Designer!

I made this banner using medium weight 4" chipboard squares using wide grosgrain ribbon and scor-tape to assemble it all together.  Each image was stamped and colored with Copics and then cut out and layered on the circle Spellbinder die cuts.  Then, using white Liquid pearls for snow.

7 Kids Challenge: Spring Flowers

The new 7Kids College Fund challenge is up!  This time, the challenge is April Showers or May Flowers - you choose.  I decided to go with Flowers and created my card with Gillian Robert's Flower Girl image by Stampavie.  Isn't she cute?  I stamped her in black Versafine ink on Copic's Xpress it blending card stock (the BEST paper for your Copics, in my opinion) and embossed with detail clear embossing powder before coloring her in with a variety of Copic markers.

7 Kids Challenge: Spring

Hi there!

It's time for another 7Kids College Fund challenge!  The theme for the two week challenge is to make a Spring or Easter card.  I chose to make a Spring card and went bright and cheerful with lots of layers of DCWV glitter papers.  I stamped this Sarah Kay Picnic of Daisies image in black Versafine ink on Copic's Xpress it blending card stock and embossed the ink with detail clear embossing powder.  Then, I colored her in with a variety of Copic markers.  For detailed images such as these ones, I really like to use this particular ink and embossing powder to help my marker tips stay in the lines a bit better.  It also helps the image to really pop with the embossed black lines.
