My Girl - Little Freida

Today several of The Craft's Meow design team are showcasing Little Frieda & Lulu - My Girl. Lulu is looking on as Little Frieda finishes dressing for a party. Mirror Mirror on the wall, YOU Little Frieda are the fairest one of all!  I created this card using this week's Card Patterns sketch since The Craft's Meow is sponsoring them this week - how fun, right?

Once again, just like I did on my Freida card yesterday, after coloring the image (on PaperTrey Ink's white card stock) I traced over the image lines with a fine point black pen.  I like to use Copic's .25 or .35 Multi-liner pen but have also used a fine or super fine point Sharpie pen too.  It makes a huge difference on images that are colored with dark Copic markers as the sharpness of the stamped lines can be dulled a bit with all the blending (not bleeding as I haven't had much of a problem with that using either PTI or Copic Xpress it card stocks) of the inks.

Happy Mother's Day CP113

I have a card to share today that I made with a variety of Layers of Color stamps in honor of Laura sponsoring this week's Card Patterns sketch.  Here's the fabulous sketch designed by Nina Brackett:

I had to leave off the two embellishments on the bottom of the fishtail banner because I decided to use one of LOC's Spellbinder frames.  Here's the links to the LOC products I used on today's card:

I stamped the Rose Blossom frame on the paper in SU's Poppy Parade red ink and then cut it out with the Label 16 die and my Grand Calibur.  Then, I sponged the edges with some Antique Linen ink to help it match the papers a bit better.  The flowers were colored with R14 & R17 and the leaves with G24 & G29.  For the butterfly, I used E15, E19, Y11, Y19, YR15, R14, R17.

Celebrate Today...

While looking this morning online for some current challenges to get me inspired, I found three of them that I decided to play along with on my card today.  I haven't had the opportunity to check on SCS's challenges for a long time but found Friday's How does your Garden Grow challenge too enticing not to play along.  So, I picked out some fun garden themed papers from Cosmo Cricket's Garden Variety Mini deck and this beautiful Sweet & Sassy Poppy Digital image (did you see there is a sale going on until the end of the month with their digital images!!) and went to look for a sketch that would work with the image.  This week's Card Patterns sketch was perfect!

 Since the Simon Says Challenge this week is to make a birthday card, I choose to use a celebrate sentiment from PTI's Autumn Abundance set.  Here's a closeup of that amazing poppy image ...

Daisy Love

Happy Friday!

I have a bright and cheerful card to share today with you that I made using Card Patterns sketch this week...

I took a bit of liberty with the two dots on the lower left hand corner by putting the two mice in the corner and moving the three dots in the upper right corner a bit towards the center.  Hope that's okay!  I'm also adding this card to this week's Thursday Prisma & other coloring medium challenge on the Outlawz challenge site.

I pulled out the DCWV Citrus mat stack for my spring color palette and the Hugs Penny Black stamp set along with my colored pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps to create this card.  (click on the bold printed words for links to purchase the supplies on The 7 Kids College Fund for great prices!) I'm sure most of the country joins me in WISHING and HOPING for spring flowers and colors ...

CP99: Hip Hip Hurray!

 

Good morning!

I have another card to share that I made for the Card Patterns sketch this week.  Here's the sketch for this week:

I have been loving the bright cheerful color turquoise lately - must be because I'm missing summer quite a bit right about now!  I decided to stamp this adorable elephant (my favorite image from the Polka Dot Parade stamp set - isn't he so cute!?) in SU's Bermuda Bay ink and then shade him a bit with a couple of coordinating Copic markers.  Because SU ink is dye based, there is no need to worry about bleeding.  Then, I stamped a sentiment from the Polka Dot Parade stamp set as well as a phrase from Polka Dot ParadeSent with Love to make a little birthday wish rhyme...

Today is my birthday and it's a bit of a bittersweet day for me.  I was born on my Grandma's birthday and she was a twin, so growing up we always celebrated my birthday together.  I thought it was pretty special to share my day with Grandma Harriet and Great Aunt Helen - such fun memories!  My Grandpa worked in a bakery and would make us the most beautiful cakes that we would share together with all our names on it.

My Great Aunt Helen died last year, just one day before our birthday.  She lived a very long, active life and we have always exchanged birthday cards with each other all these years.  My Grandma Harriet has been gone for a while now, losing her battle with Alzheimers shortly after my son was born. 

So, this year while I am celebrating my special day with my family, I can't help but think of these two amazing ladies and miss them!  But, rather than being sad, I've decided to celebrate them and all the memories of birthdays past with them!  One of the things I remember most about each of them were their robust laughs and love of life... they sure loved to laugh!  I hope my kids can say that of me one day - that I loved to laugh and enjoyed my life.

I hope you enjoy your day - laugh and have something sweet for my birthday today, okay? *wink!*

Hi there!

Layers of Color is sponsoring the prize for this week's sketch at Card Patterns.  When I saw the fabulous sketch - I had to play along!

 

I pulled out The Love Chapter (the stamp set Laura is donating for the random prize winner) and Vintage Roses clear art stamp sets and got to work.  The sketch called for several different patterns of paper, so I used the delicate My Mind's Eye Fine and Dandy Tickled Pink 6x6 paper pack - love the bright, cheerful colors and patterns in this paper pack!

Card Patterns Guest Designer!

How fun is that?  I was invited to be Card Pattern's guest designer this week!  Here's the sketch we were challenged to work with this week:

I decided to pull out a Stampin Up stamp set that I ordered from their holiday mini catalog that I haven't used yet.  If you've followed my blog for awhile, you probably know by now how much I love cutesie stamp sets and this one fit the bill perfectly!

I decided to flip the sketch a bit so I would have room for all three of these images and took a bit of liberty with the corners.  Here's a closer view of these adorable little images...
