Birthday Girl Scrapbook Page

Happy Sunday!

Well, I hope your weekend has been better than mine!  I was hit hard Friday night with some sort of a virus and spent almost the entire day on Saturday in bed sleeping!  I can't remember when I felt so wiped out before but even with the combination of some cold medicines and Zicam, I literally napped almost the entire day away.  However, after a long nap again this morning I woke up feeling a bit better and decided that that was ENOUGH of that and that it was time to get moving and get better!  I did NOT want to waste the entire weekend laying around, being sick... who's got time for that anyway - especially in December!  My husband laughed at me, but we hit the mall to help celebrate Ash's birthday by going to Build-a-Bear and by the time we had a late lunch, I was feeling MUCH better.  Mom's don't have TIME to be sick and let themselves be sick now, do we!?  lol!

Anyway, this is a scrapbook page that I designed that will hold a photo of Miss Ashley celebrating her 10th birthday.  As I have mentioned before, I'm working on some Christmas calendars for gifts this year. My plan is to add recent photos to the pages I've been making, photo copy them and bind them into a book for the grandmas and my husband.  That way, they will all have special calendars and I won't have to kill myself making different books/calendars for everyone!

I used three different MFT Pure Innocence girls on this page: Birthday Princess; Make Mine a Double; and Something Special Just for You.  They were so fun to color and paper piece with my favorite little My Mind's Eye Fine and Dandy Tickled Pink papers - I love those papers!!  I colored the girls with Copics on my favorite Copic Xpress-it card stock... of which I am in desperate need of more!  I'll be ordering some online soon since my local scrapbooking store didn't have any in stock when I checked there today... boo!

Scrapbook Page details
Stamps: My Favorite Things
Ink: Memento; PTI vintage cream; Distress Spun Sugar and Broken China
Card stock: SU 12x12 kraft; DCWV textured; My Mind's Eye Fine and dandy patterned; Doily; Copic Xpress-it White
Other: Sewing maching; copics; rectangle nestabilities; pearls; sponge; Michaels blue and green bridal flowers;  Martha Stewart border punch; MFT polka dot label die; SU modern label punch and heart punch; buttons; seam binding; EK Success Large oval punch

and one last look at these adorable little PI girls - oh, how I love them!

Here's the copics I used on the girls...

Thanks for checking in on me today!
Take care of yourself - I'd hate to hear of YOU being sick during the busiest time of the year!

MFT Favorite Friend

Hi There!

Today I'm sharing the 8x8 scrapbook page I designed when I was MFT's Favorite Friend, several months ago.  I haven't shared this page with you here yet, so I thought I'd do that today!  The photo is one of Ashley with my Mother's Day flower bouquet from last May.

Scrapbook Page Details
Stamps: Jolinne - Sweet Spring (MFT)
Cardstock: Ivory; October Afternoon patterned papers
Ink: Memento
Other: Copics; Sewing machine; Petaloo flowers; SU ribbon; K&Co. brads; buttons; scor-tape; crystal laquer

I layered the little ballerina's paper pieced dress and popped up the layers a bit for more dimension ...

On a personal note: We had a nice Thanksgiving Dinner with my family yesterday and spent some of the day today shopping with my husband's family.  The crowds and lines weren't too bad and although we didn't head out super early for the huge 'door buster deals,' we were able to make a dent in our Christmas shopping.  It's been a nice relaxing holiday for us - I hope it has been for you and your loved ones too!

We're just about ready to head out for the Christmas parade so the kids can ride in Grandpa Fick's fire truck.  It's SO COLD outside that I'm not looking forward to it much... lol!  Good thing Grandma Fick has LOTS of blankets!!

Keep warm wherever you are and have a fabulous weekend!

All about me: scrapbook page

*Click on photo for a larger view*

Happy Friday!

I have a fun 12 x 12 scrapbook page to share with some photos of my daughter Ashley taken on the last day of school in May.  The elementary had a carnival to celebrate school being done and among many other fun things - they had a face painting booth.  So, Ash decided to get her face painted like a leopard.  Her dad kept teasing her that she had 'leopard-sy' (get it?) which drove her crazy!  lol!

I used a variety of stamps to make this page - but this little MFT Pure Innocence girl is the cutest of all of them, isn't she?

Scrapbook page Details
Stamps: MFT Pure Innocence; variety of clear sentiment stamps from TCP and other unknown sources
Ink: Versafine black; Memento black
Cardstock: GinaK black, ivory; Cosmo Cricket 12x12 dp; SU kraft, tangelo
Other: Sewing machine; buttons; SU ribbons; detail clear embossing powder; scor-tape; corner chomper; Tim Holtz tiny attacher; circle punches; Copic markers

I'll be back on Sunday night with the GinaK Designs team when we'll be showcasing new stamp sets that will be available this Thursday, September 30!  Did you see the new card kit stamp set for this month?  Here's the sneak peek if you missed it on Gina's blog yesterday:

Isn't that fun!?  I can't wait to show you the rest of the stamp set along with the card kit that I've designed that will be free for a limited time!  In light of that, the time is running out to receive the Lean on Me card kit free with the purchase of the stamp set!  That offer is only available until 10pm central on Thursday, 9/30.  After that, the kit will be available for purchase for $12.95.

Have a great weekend!

Lean on Me Blog Hop

Good evening!

Welcome to the Lean on Me blog hop!  I have 3 different projects to share tonight and can't wait to see everyone else's projects too.  The links are at the end of my blog, so be sure to check them out with me.

First off, let's start off with a card I designed using lots of Basic Grey Sugar Rush patterned papers along with these beautiful floral images:

Card Details
Stamps: Lean on Me
Ink: Memento Black; SU and Memento markers
Cardstock: GinaK Smokey Slate, black, white; Basic Grey Sugar Rush dp
Other: EK Success border punch; Punch bunch leaf punch; Spellbinder oval, deckled oval, beaded oval, and label 11 dies; glue pen; orange glitter, button, twine

I stamped the flowers with some water-based markers and then trimmed around them to use as decorative embellishments to frame the sentiment focal 'tags.'  Can you see all the Spellbinder Nestability dies I was able to layer to make them?

Next, I designed a 12x12 Scrapbook page that is all ready to go when I get my most recent photos developed.  As I mentioned yesterday, I've been working on layouts that have the photo mats included, so once I get some of my favorite photos developed, I can add them to the ready made mats.

Lean on Me scrapbook page details
Stamps: Lean on Me; Farm Life
Ink: Versamark; black memento
Cardstock: 12x12 SU Kraft; GinaK asparagus, sweet corn, black; October Afternoon dp
Other: Basic Grey buttons and brads; ScorTape; twine; SU ribbons and chunky glitter; sewing machine; Ranger Perfect Pearls; paper piercer & template; Tim Holtz fragments; prima flowers; K& Co. rhinestone brad

The twig leaf was stamped in Versamark ink for a tone on tone look.  Then, I used Versamark ink again with the stamps on the yellow card stock and applied a variety of Rangers Perfect Pearls to the images to help them pop.  The shine is so pretty and subtle - very soft too.

My final project is a little treat container - look at how cute these flowers are as decorative elements on the sides.  So adorable and just the perfect size!

The candy corn shows how tiny the milk carton die is - why is everything cuter when it comes in such small packages?  lol!

Treat Box Directions
Stamps: Lean on Me

Ink: Memento Black; Vivid; Versamar
Cardstock: GinaK asparagus, black and white
Other: SU milk carton die, brad and clip; EK Success circle punches; Spellbinder tag die; corner rounder

Lean on Me scrapbook pages

Hi there!

Today I'm sharing the scrapbook layout I designed using the materials in the Lean on Me card kit.  I added a sheet of Black Onyx card stock to the papers because it's so hard for me to make a scrapbook page without it.  I didn't add photos to these pages yet, as I'm waiting to get some recent ones printed out of the kids, so I made the photo mats to be 4 1/4" x 6 1/4".

Once the photos are developed, I'll just need to apply adhesive and stick them to the mats.  I actually have been making quite a few scrapbook pages lately and have done this on most of them as I'm trying to work ahead on Christmas gifts/layouts.  Since I want the photos to be recent ones, I'm saving the photos for last.

Here's a close up of the first page - you can see lots of sewing and embossing ....

Lean on Me Scrapbook Pages
Stamps: Lean on Me
Ink: Black Memento; Vivid
Cardstock: GinaK black, white, dandelion, grass green, sweet mango, red hot
Other: Sewing machine; EK Success border and circle punch; Spellbinder double end tags, tags trio and label 11 dies; silver eyelets, twine, Cuttlebug floral fantasy and floral screen embossing folders; 5/8" dandelion yellow grosgrain; doodlebug glitter; ScorTape; Buttons; Basic Grey glazed brad

Next, is Page 2 -

I stamped the flowers in Vivid inks and trimmed around them so I could add them around the photo mats.  I made sure to only apply the adhesive to the parts of the flowers that aren't over the mat, so I can add the photos without any hindrance.

Check in tomorrow night for more projects with the Lean on Me stamp set from myself and some of my fellow designers!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Faithful Florals Scrapbook page

Hi there!

Now that school is back in session for pretty much everyone, I thought I'd share an 8.5 x 11 scrapbook page I made with Tami Mayberry's new Faithful Florals stamp set.  I pulled out a favorite older photo of my son Isaiah sitting at his school desk with his Bible opened.  I believe he was in 6th grade here.  My kids attend a private Christian school (in fact the same one that I taught at before I had kids), so it seemed natural to pull out the Faithful Florals stamp set to scrapbook this page.

Scrapbook Page Details
Stamps: Faithful Florals (GinaK Designs)
Ink: Memento; Vivid
Cardstock: GinaK; October Afternoon dp
Other: Spellbinder label 7 dies; EK Success border punch; Basic Grey buttons and brads; SU bird punch, clip, chipboard heart, and ribbon; October afternoon journaling card and stickers; sewing machine; twine; dauber; paper piercer, template

I haven't decided if I'm going to journal on the little card a note to Isaiah or if I'll have him do it, so I left it blank for now.

Thanks for checking in on me today!  Have a great rest of your evening -

Down on the Farm Scrapbook Layout

Hi there!

Today, I am sharing another 2 page layout that I created with a Card kit of mine that is available through GinaK Designs.  This is the Down on the Farm kit - aren't those farm animals adorable?!  I used the same papers, ribbons, and eyelets that are included in the card kit and just added some buttons, sewing, etc to make them into scrapbook pages, rather than cards.

Be sure to click on the photos to make them appear larger for even more details.  I used Liquid applique and glitter to embellish the sheep and cow image, while a pink button fit perfectly on the pig's snout!  lol!

Have a great rest of your day!
Jessica

Sweetest Blessings Blog Hop

click on photo for a closer look
Good evening!

Tonight a couple of my friends and I are joining together to share some projects that we've designed using this month's Card Kit stamp set: Sweetest Blessings.  With the purchase of this adorable stamp set for the next few weeks, you automatically receive the card kit that I designed.   While planning for this hop, I used the kit contents to make a 2 page Scrapbook layout of some favorite photos of my kids celebrating their birthdays.

FYI: The size of my pages is my favorite scrapbook size: 8 1/2" x 11".  I haven't scrapbooked this size in a long time as I've been working on 9x9 or 12x12 for awhile, but let me just say that as soon as I started putting these pages together, it felt like I was back to my roots and the ideas just clicked! lol!  I have bazillion scrapbooks in my home with photos of my kids in this size albums and have decided it's where I will be staying because it just works for me.  If it works - why change, right? *wink*

This photo is a favorite one of mine from Ashley when she was 4, I believe.  We had bought these princess birthday hats for her party and she HAD to wear them for days before AND after her actual birthday.  This photo was taken of her eating her cereal one more for breakfast.  She had a favorite sweater on over her jammies because she is always cold when she wakes up in the morning - still the case today, nearly 6 years later.  Just look at those cheeks and chubby little fingers ... sigh.  I plan on adding some journaling notes to the nestability die tag next to the photo - I just didn't get to that before I took the photo.

Now, this page is of a photo I took this past February of my son when he turned 13.  We went out to eat at his favorite restaurant with my family and he was treated to a special birthday sundae.  So, he was a good sport and posed a bit for some funny photos for me.  I'm sure he'd be 'outraged' that I used these pinks on his page, but I couldn't resist since the photo was so perfect.

GinaK DT Challenge Hop

 Good evening!

Tonight I'm joining several other GinaK Designers in a special  blog hop event.  This month, Gina asked us to use the stamps released on July 1st using at least one of the StampTV video techniques on our project.  I decided to make a 12x12 scrapbook page for my upcoming Christmas calendar project using a favorite photo of my daughter Ashley along with the Seeds of Kindness stamp set.

As you can see from my photos, I used several techniques on my page.  I'll list each of them with the link to the technique video so you can check them out for more information:

Project Details
Stamps: Seeds of Kindness
Ink: Memento
Cardstock: GinaK; SU 12x12; DCWV patterned papers; vellum
Other: Sewing machine; circle punches & spellbinders circle & label dies; EK Success butterfly punch; rhinestones; copics; crystal lacquer; glitter pen; polka dot embossing folder; Quikutz scallop border; SU ribbon; Corner Rounder

I don't know if you can tell on this last photo or not, but I thought I'd share a few details on it for you.  I colored the floral image with copics and then went over some of the lines with the Stardust glitter pen.  Then after it was added to the scrapbook page, I put a layer of Crystal lacquer over the entire circle focal point.  After which I set it aside to dry overnight.  It's really quite sparkly and shiny in person, but I don't believe my camera caught that very well...

Summer Memories

*click on any photo to view it larger for more details *

Welcome to another GinaK blog hop event!

Tonight, Gina has challenged her design to make a project for tonight's hop with a summer memory as the inspiration, being sure to use one of the new stamp sets just released a few weeks ago.  While deciding what to make for tonight's hop, I decided to pull a photo from a few years ago of myself with my kids at one of our favorite summer activities: miniature golf!

I used the Botanicals stamp sets to make a scrapbook page that I'll be adding to my 9x9 scrapbook album.  I've been loving getting back into scrapbooking again and love how easy it is to incorporate stamps into my pages as the perfect embellishments!

Project Details
Stamps: Botanicals
Cardstock: GinaK; October Afternoon
Ink: Vivid
Other: Spellbinder Eyelet pendat die; ribbon; stickles; sewing machine; buttons; felt; Quikutz scallop die

The flowers from the Botanicals stamp set are so pretty and easy to use.  I inked them with a couple of Vivid inks and stamped on GinaK's white cardstock and then trimmed around them, leaving a white border to help them pop.  After adhering them to the bottom of my page, I used some diamond stickles to make them sparkle.  I even added some stickles to the buttons.

Every year, we spend some time at a waterpark in Wisconsin Dells and always make it a point to go to Pirates' Cove to go mini golfing.  The kids love it and we usually end up having at least one of us get a hole in one.  On this particular day, it was my turn!  The mini golf course is always beautiful with waterfalls, flowers, and lots of fun 'piratey' theme statues.  The colors of the photo were so bright, I changed the photo to black and white to help the focus go back to us.

I used a Spellbinder Eyelet Lace die for my journaling.  I layered a yellow circle die under the white die cut, to help tie in the yellows I used on my layout.  This page also fits my current StampTV Scrapbook Saturday challenge - using a black and white photo with colored embellishments.  You can view that discussion HERE.

Next, is a super quick card that uses a couple of extra flowers that I stamped for my scrapbook page but didn't end up using.  Since I already had my Ranger Alcohol inks and tools on my table, I made this summery sky and grass background mat.  I'm sure you're shocked to see MORE polished stone on my blog tonight, aren't you?!  lol!

While thinking about summer memories, part of my favorite thing about this season is the beautiful sunshine days and green, lush lawns that are prevalent.  My mom always had beautiful flowers and bushes in our yard (and still does).  I, however, have a black thumb and don't even try to grow anything outside.  I can only make pretty flowers with papers and inks ... lol!

Card Details
Stamps: Botanicals
Ink: Ranger Alcohol inks; Black Stazon; Vivid inks
Cardstock: GinaK; glossy
Other: blending solution, felts, handle by Ranger; corner rounder; copic markers; pearls; Spellbinders nestability scallop circle die; ribbon; pen

For all the specific details on how to enter your card in Gina's Design Team challenge, please visit GinaK's blog.

Then, stop by these participating GinaK Design Team member's blogs for their projects for tonight's hop:
Happy hopping!
