Timeless Treasures Blog Hop

Good evening!

I am so happy to join in on Theresa's Timeless Treasures blog hop tonight! There are several of us showing projects tonight, so be sure to check out all the links at the end of my SUPER long blog post to see what everyone else has been making with Theresa's gorgeous vintage inspired stamp set.

My first project with this stamp set was this accordian fold scrapbook. I sat down with a premade accordian album from DieCuts with a View, a DejaViews 12x12 paper pack and Theresa's set.

I began my project by cutting the papers to 6x6 and started layering and trimming to decorate the album. I started to get a feel for the book with these vintage papers and inspiration began to strike! Next, I stamped all the images onto GinaK's Pure Luxury Ivory cardstock and pulling the colors from the patterned papers, I colored everything with Copics.

The images were trimmed and set aside to decorate the pages and the sentiments were cut with a variety of Nestability dies. Before removing the dies, I sponged SU's Blush Blossom ink around the cardstock to highlight and add to the vintage look. That's my favorite color to use when I'm trying to achieve a soft, old-world type feel.

Then, I added the stamped elements to my album...

I used Sakura's Glitter pen to highlight a couple of lines on each stamped image. On one side of my album, I used Crystal lacquer on the stamped images. But, I found that the lacquer was a little thicker than I wanted, so on the opposite side of the album pages, I used a versamarker and detail clear embossing powder to get the subtle shine I was looking for.

Here's the album cover...

page 2 - remember you can click on all of my photos to view them larger for an even closer view...

page 3 - oh how I LOVE that cameo, Theresa!!

The last page of the front of the album...

Now, I never like to leave the back side of my mini books plain, so I always decorate them too. That way, you have 2 views - right!?

So, this is page 1 of the back of the album... (using Versamarker & embossing powder to embellish)

and finally page 4...

Whew - you made it! I should have warned you about all the photos in this post! lol!! I haven't made a mini scrapbook in so long and was thrilled with getting back into scrapbooking again! Now, to decide on what photos to put in it...

Family Mini book

Good morning!

A few days ago, I shared my Dad mini book and today I'm going to show you another one I made the same weekend as the Family one. Notice the similar elements? Same papers, tags, Copic Markers - a whole new look!

This time I used Rupa's Many Happy Returns stamp set and stamped all the images in Versafine Black ink and embossed with Clear Embossing powder. I love this retro stamp set and the sayings that are in the set. I had to modify the saying shown in the photo below of all four of us to say "We blend so well together."

I used School photos of my kids from this past year. First Grade for Ashley and Fifth grade for Isaiah. In the spring, their school offers an additional photo session where siblings can be photographed together. They print out the photos on a few fun papers. My favorite sheets are the epoxy tags and stickers. I used a few of them in this book.

I found all kinds of funky fibers to use to decorate the tags. When the book is closed it looks like it needs a haircut! LOL!

Sorry again for the wonky photos... but I know you can get the general idea....

Have a great rest of your day!

Jessica

Kindred Dad Mini Book

Good morning!

So, if you've been reading my blog at all lately you know how crazy I am about making Mini Scrapbooks, right? Well, here's another one I've made featuring Gina's Kindred Spirit Men stamp line. I've shared it in my Splitcoast Stampers Gallery but haven't shared it here yet, so thought I would do that today.

This little book uses one piece of 12x12 designer paper folded, cut, and scored. I found the directions online somewhere and adapted it to make it work for what I wanted to make. I used thin chipboard for the cover. Did you notice my 'clever' item I use to keep my book shut? Yup, it's one of my rubberbands for my hair. I just tried to make it pretty by adding a few ribbons - LOL!

I colored all the images in with Copic Markers. This was the first project I made after I bought my very first Copic Marker box. I was so excited to use them and was pretty happy with how easy they were to use with these stamps. By the way, my first Copic Box was C... now I have all 4 boxes. Once you buy one box, you're a goner because you 'need' all of them!! LOL!

I shaded the stamped images with Pebbles Pearlescent Chalks. It adds a nice subtle shimmer to the images. Then, I took my SU marker spritzer and spritzed sahara sand marker to 'dirty up' the images. All the edges of the papers were distressed with Tim Holtz's Tonic Distresser. Then, I used Sahara Sand ink to add more shading.

The book has 4 double layouts and ends up having pockets on each side. I used one pocket on each layout spread and decided to glue the stamped images on the other one. I used ordinary Office Tags that I stamped with Stampin Up's Twill background stamp using Sahara Sand ink. I took my Staedlter multiliner pens and drew double lines around the tags and colored in the lines with a Copic Marker. Screw brads and stamp sayings from the coordinating Kindred Men Greetings finish off the tags.

When I first started working for Gina, I told her that I wanted to have her carry some star punches because to me stars are a man's flower. LOL! I love my flower punches and primas, but I don't like to put them on my masculine based projects. My go-to guy embellishments are always stars and metal embellishments.

To accent the stars, I took my multiliner and drew broken lines all around the image. It's another go-to addition for me when I'm looking for a handmade touch.

I'm sorry the photos are so wonky. It's really hard to get a good photo of this little book because of how it's made. It doesn't lay flat or open completely.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest of your day!

Jessica

Fall Acrylic 6x6 Book

Good morning!

Buckle up, because today's post is a BIG one! LOL! I have lots of photos of a new mini scrapbook that I made recently to prepare for another class I'll be teaching in a few weeks at GinaK's store.

I'm calling it my Fall Acrylic 6x6 Book. We'll be using Zutter's Bind-it-All machine along with their 6x6 acrylic book covers and pewter coils. Gina has ordered some awesome new paper for us to use for the book - filled with gorgeous warm, fall colors.

The front and back covers will be decorated with Ranger Alcohol Inks. We just started carrying the entire color rack in the store and I couldn't be happier! Those of you who have taken a few recent classes know how excited I am to have them because we've used them several times in our classes already!

Here's a view of the book opened. Can you see the yummy layers, tags, pockets, and dimension that is in this little treasure? I LOVE it! These kind of projects are my absolute favorite ones to do because there are all these interactive and hidden elements on each page!

The rest of the photos are of some of the pages in my book. Each double spread has one pocket page - filled with extra photos along with a journaling tag. The main photo is on the opposite page. In between the two pages, there is a large office tag that has extra photos on both sides. These large tags have been stamped and shaded with distress inks.

The above photo is the same page as the other photo, except with the tag turned so you can see the other side of the tag. Each pocket top has been punched with either Fiskars Threading Water border punch or the flower punch that you can see above.

For this book, I used Stamping Up's Apple Cider designer paper they released in last year's Holiday Mini catalog. When I started putting the book together, I wasn't sure what photos I was going to put in my book. I was thinking it would be a great place to keep some favorite photos of fall. So, I pulled out this paper and found lots of ribbons to match them.

However, when I started looking through my photo box for some pictures to put in my book, I came across these ones taken several years back of my kids. As I was looking through the photos, I couldn't help chuckle and remember all the fun memories that each photo shows. I had to put them in my book because they made me laugh and what better photos to put in my Thanksgiving themed book. I'm so thankful for my family and was so tickled to see these photos again!

I share my photo story with you because scrapbooking is about telling the stories of your family. It's not supposed to be difficult or stressful. It's okay if the photos don't match the papers perfectly or even if the photos are a little blurry. It's about the memories and the love you feel for the subjects in the photos, not the process. Although the process is pretty fun too! LOL!
How can I not laugh when I see these photos?? The pages above show Isaiah being silly at the Lego Store in Chicago... My daughter being a Spy with her brother's hat on along with this faux leather outfit I found for her at a Second Hand store in town along with her dress shoes .... Ashley climbing a tree because she was scared of a cat - yet she is holding a stuffed cat in her hands!! That one still makes me laugh so hard that I cry... LOL!
I'm really excited about this class and am looking forward to sharing the actual book we'll be making soon. When the papers get in, I'll get going with it and be sure to post it here on my blog!
Have a great day and thanks for hanging in there with me through this marathon post!
