Take Time...

Good morning!

I'm sharing a card that I made this morning using Friday's SCS Free for All challenge F4A227: Summer Lovin'.

We were challenged to make a card with a summer theme or inspiration.  I pulled out Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Ocean Paradise stamp set and watercolored a beach scene.

I used a variety of Distress Markers and Peerless Watercolors but was careful not to use too much water or worry about blending too much because I wasn't using watercolor paper - just a thick Vintage White cardstock piece from PaperTrey ink.

I stamped the images in Versafine ink and clear embossed for added shine to my CAS card.  The cute sun image is from SNSS's Wish You Were Here.

I had a bit of a hard time photographing the soft subtle sky and the texture embossing that I got from using a texture plate from PaperTrey Ink.  The ribbons are from Stampin Up.  To finish off the images I used my Sakura clear glitter pen on some of the images.  If you use a waterbrush over the glitter lines before they dry, you can actually spread or 'watercolor' the glitter a bit - super fun.

Have a great day and I hope you can soak up some sun this weekend!

Ink: Versafine; Distress inks for shading

My cup runneth over...

Hi there!

I have a card to share with you that I made this morning using a couple of the new SCS challenges for this week:  Sketch and Colors.

I didn't use the Stampin Up color but substituted PaperTrey Ink's papers and went as close as I could for the colors.  I used the adorable Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Special Blend stamp set with one of the new coordinating dies for the focal image.  I colored the image in Copics with the challenge colors.

Have a great weekend!

New Beginnings...

Happy 4th of July to my American friends!

We are laying low at home today, doing our best to escape the brutal heat outside so I had some time this morning to play along with this week's SCS sketch challenge hosted by my friend Korin from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  I recently picked up some layered sticker sheets from the dollar store and thought they'd make some quick cards for my stash.  I used one of the sticker images along with a sentiment from SNSS New Beginnings stamp set using this sketch as my guide..

Card Details
Stamps: New Beginnings (SNSS)
Ink: Versafine black

Card stock: MME patterned; PTI
Other: SNSS label die; paper doily; Lil' Inker Designs bow die; dollar tree stickers; sewing machine; PTI impression plate; Tattered Angels Glimmer pearl mist

Before you go, I wanted to let you all know about a great sale that Korin is having for the next few days over at SNSS in honor of our Independence Day celebration!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Orange you Glad?

Hi again!

I have another card to share today that I made for this week's SCS's Free for All challenge issued each Friday.  This week, Jeanne challenged us to use the color Orange on our projects.   I used this Sweet 'n Sassy Cocoa's Train digital image and colored him in with colored pencils, odorless mineral spirits, and blending stumps.  After cutting him out with a Spellbinder rectangle die, I used a variety of DCWV Spring Mat stack papers to finish it off.

Be sure to check out the F4A61 gallery on SCS.  There are lots of great cards added there already!

Have a great rest of your day!
Jessica

Follow your Heart...

Hi there!

I had the chance to make this fun card today using another adorable Penny Black image.  This one is called Easy Rider - isn't Mimi adorable on her little lime green bike?  I used this week's Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger photo for my inspiration for the colors on my card.  Looking at the cupcake liners, I noticed the pleating and thought the bicycle wheel spokes bore a little resemblance to them... a stretch maybe, but it did help me choose the image to use for my card!  *wink!*

This week's SCS Friday Free for All Challenge was also an inspiration for my card, as we were asked to create a project Inspired by the Sun.  My husband is an avid bicyclist and as soon as it's above 40 degrees, he's out riding his bike.  I'm not quite the fan of those bike seats, or I would join him... lol!

Card Details
Stamps: Easy Rider (Penny Black); Whimsical Words (SU)
Ink: Versafine black
Card stock: GinaK white; Copic Xpress it white; SU patterned and colored
Other: Sewing machine; Wild Orchid flowers; Punch Bunch leaf punches; SU ribbons; Copic markers; Crystal lacquer; Marvy Scallop circle punch; Spellbinder lacy circles die; detail clear embossing powder; Martha Stewart butterfly punch; rhinestones

and the inside view...

For some reason, my camera really did a number on the colors of the inside of this card, but I promise you - they DO match in real life... yikes!

Thanks for checking in on me today!

Birthday Mimi

I'm sharing a card tonight that I made using SCS's color challenge that was shared on Tuesday of this week.  I made it on Tuesday and am just now getting a chance to photograph and edit it... it's been a busy week!  Be sure to check out the SCS Discussion HERE for lots more samples and inspiration!

Check out this week's Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger photo - check out those yummy cupcake liners...  Love the polka dots and the colors!

Here's a close up view of this adorable Penny Black image called Sweet Thing and is one of their adorable Mimi images.  I stamped her in black Versafine ink on Copic's Xpress It card stock, clear embossed it, and colored with Copics.  Then, I added some colored stickles to some of the elements of the image for added sparkle.

Card Details
Stamps: Penny Black; PaperTrey sentiment
Ink: Versafine Black
Card stock: GinaK Designs white; Copic Xpress it white; SU pear tart, so saffron, and regal rose
Other: Sewing machine; Cuttlebug embossing folders - seeing spots, candy cane stripes; My Favorite Things simply scallops border die; WeR Memory Keepers corner rounder; buttons; paper flowers; Sateen green flowers; copic markers; stickles; detail clear embossing powder; saffron ribbon

I forgot to take a photo of the inside - if I get the chance, I'll do that later and add it to this post.  It's nothing fancy, but I know many of you guys enjoy seeing ideas for the insides of your cards.

Have a great weekend!  My daughter has some friends over for a sleep over tonight - so it's girl's night here at the Fick household!

Molly's Tulips

I have another card that I designed with some specific challenges as the inspiration for my card today. I decided to go ahead and make one more card using SCS Friday's How does your Garden Grow challenge as well as this week's Sweet Shop sketch (although you can see I tweaked it a bit for the focal image, so it may not count as a legit entry... lol!)

I used  Sweet 'n Sassy Molly's Tulips digital image for this card - isn't she sweet?  Once again, I went with Simon Says Challenge's theme this week - birthday cards!

Card Details (5.5" square)
Stamps: Molly's Tulips (Sweet 'n Sassy digital image; PTI Inside & Out: Birthdays
Ink: Memento Black
Card stock: PTI white; Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety mini deck
Other; Sewing machine; Spellbinder petite oval & circle (for inside) dies; MFT scallop border & daisy/leaves dies; Copic markers; doily; seam binding ribbon; pearl back

and the inside view...

Thanks for stopping by!

Celebrate Today...

While looking this morning online for some current challenges to get me inspired, I found three of them that I decided to play along with on my card today.  I haven't had the opportunity to check on SCS's challenges for a long time but found Friday's How does your Garden Grow challenge too enticing not to play along.  So, I picked out some fun garden themed papers from Cosmo Cricket's Garden Variety Mini deck and this beautiful Sweet & Sassy Poppy Digital image (did you see there is a sale going on until the end of the month with their digital images!!) and went to look for a sketch that would work with the image.  This week's Card Patterns sketch was perfect!

Since the Simon Says Challenge this week is to make a birthday card, I choose to use a celebrate sentiment from PTI's Autumn Abundance set.  Here's a closeup of that amazing poppy image ...

Card Details
Stamps: Poppy Digital Image (Sweet & Sassy); Autumn Abundance and for the inside sentiment - Inside/Out: Birthday (PTI)
Ink: Memento black; SU river rock
Card stock: PTI white for digital image; Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety
Other: Spellbinder Circle & Petite oval (for inside); SU oval punches; sewing machine; copic markers; MFT scallop die; seam binding ribbon; pearl back; dauber

and the inside view...
