Girl Friday Sketch

Happy Friday!

This morning I have 3 cards to share. I made all three of them one night last week using the same Sketch that I drew for myself along with the same CosmoCricket Girl Friday paper & Foofala Buttons. Do you do that sometimes too?

When I sit down to papercraft, one card always leads to a couple more because as I'm creating ideas pop into my head on how else I could have made the card. So, as soon as I finish one, I'll begin on the next one... My designs are similar almost all the time - but I love to add little touches to them with embellishments to make them a little more special.

First up is one with Melanie's Jumping for Joy...

I LOVE this bear giving himself a hug! He was colored with Copics as was the little circus stand that he is sitting on.
Next, is one I made with Asela's Friendship Gardens and Gina's Not Forgotten stamps...

Once again, the flowers were colored with Copics. On all of these images, I stamped in Black Versafine ink & clear embossed on GinaK's Pure luxury white cardstock. When I'm working with dark, rich colors like these Girl Friday papers, I want to make sure that my stamped images really stand out so I almost always use the Versafine ink and emboss it.

And, finally one with Melanie's Wee Tees...

I love this sketch and know it will be one that I use a lot. One reason that I love it so much is that the patterned paper strips are all cut at 4" - which means my 12x12 papers are getting cut into 3 equal strips and I can get a ton of cards made with each strip!

The main panel is 4 x 5 1/4 ; the strip is 4 x 1 ; and the middle panel is 4 x 3. Most of my measurements for my cards are cut this way - to maximize my 12x12 cardstock, which is really kind of OCD considering how MUCH I have, but I can't help myself! lol!

To make the colored papers really pop, I added an 1/8" border of Black cardstock to each panel. Black and Brown are such great colors for this little tip. The card bases are all GinaK's 120lb. Pure Luxury White - that cardstock is so thick and can really stand up to all the layers and embellishments you may add to your cards.

Thanks for checking in today - have a great weekend!

Kangaroos and Polar Bears

Good morning!

Today's post is the last one I've made for Melanie's Blogaversary - and it's one of my favorite ones! Look at those kids of mine in that big kangaroo - how cute is that?!

We have an amazing free zoo in Madison that we frequently visit throughout the year. They have several fun spots like the ones in today's photos and we always use them as photo ops. It's fun to see how much the kids have grown throughout the years. This polar bear is a favorite spot of ours. Melanie's bears from Cuddles and Hugs and Jumping for Joy worked perfectly with this photo.

This photo was taken at the play park at the zoo. When we saw that kangaroo, we had to make the kids get inside the pouch for this photo. It's so cute! So naturally, I pulled out Melanie's Kangaroos from Just so Hoppy and Hip Hop Accessories to embellish this page. Aren't they perfect?

Today's the last day of the
Blogaversary Celebration - so be sure to take the time to leave a comment to be entered to win the last of the blog candy from Melanie. Here's all the links for you to check out everyone else's projects for today....

Thanks for stopping by!

Lions, Kids, and Bears Oh My!

Good morning!

Today's 6x6 layouts are another double duty ones since they are for Melanie's Blogaversary and PaperCraft Planet's Love Album - the design team theme for the month of January. It was pretty fun working in some Nestability scallop hearts with these cute photos of my kids.

This photo is from last Christmas, taken just before their school Christmas program. They don't look very happy, but they were - they were just giving me their 'serious' smiles. lol! I think my favorite bear of Melanie's is this one from her Jumping for Joy stamp set. He's just so cute!

This photo cracks me up because it really shows how much Ashley LOVES to touch and hug her brother and how much Isaiah likes it! heehee... He actually doesn't mind hugs - but Ashley is VERY touch oriented and loves to snuggle with everyone in our family.
So, this pair of lions and sentiment from Melanie's Cuddles and Hugs stamp set fits her perfectly - she never likes to let go! LOL!

Once again the images were all stamped with Black Versafine ink and clear embossed with detail embossing powder on GinaK's 80lb. Pure Luxury cardstock and colored with Copic markers. For the lion's mane, I added some dark brown flock with my Quickie Glue pen - it's really fuzzy in person.

The nestabilities were all cut from Basic Grey's Cupcake paper and then sanded with Tim Holtz's sanding block to reveal the white core of the paper. I love that shabby look.

Here's the links of all the other gals doing the Melanie blog hop...

Lee, Kim, Theresa, Donna, Lori, Erika , Carolina, Pam and Barb - plus, don't forget Melanie's blog too! She's had some awesome blog candy up for grabs this week, hasn't she?

Have a great day - it's Monday and back to school for the kids. Good luck getting back into the swing of things! By the way, January's Class schedule has been added to Gina's website. I hope to see you at a class of mine this month!

My kids LOVE to go swimming, so we always hit a few waterparks and hotels with swimming pools throughout the year with them. These photos were taken this summer on our family vacation at Wisconsin Dells. Melanie's seal and frogs were perfect for the photos as were the sentiments that she's included with her sets.

Don't these photos make you wish for warmer, summer weather? It sure does for me! LOL!

Melanie's Blogaversary Celebration!

Good morning!

Have you had a chance to join in on the fun 'Blogaversary' Celebration that Melanie Muenchinger has been having on her blog?! She has LOTS of fun giveaways and eyecandy for us all for the next several days. Be sure to pop over to her blog to leave a comment and be entered to win some amazing prizes!

When Melanie asked several of her friends to showcase some projects that we've made with her GinaK Designs stamps sets - I just had to join in on the blog hop fun! Out of all of her GinaK stamps, my favorites have to be her adorable animals sets. They were perfect for my 6x6 scrapbook pages that I've been working on the past couple of days.

Project details: Cuddles and Hugs, Jumping for Joy, Just so Hippy, GinaK 80lb. Pure Luxury cardstock, Basic Grey Cupcake paper & embellishments, Fiskars Threading water border punch, copic markers, versafine black ink, detail clear embossing powder, silver cording, paper piercer, nestabilities, Tim Holtz sanding block

The scrapbook pages that I'll be showing throughout the celebration are all photos of my kids from this past year. I was amazed at how many of Melanie's animals and stamp set sayings worked perfectly with my photos. I'll be sharing a couple of pages each day, so I hope you'll hop back each day to see them all. The first photo above is HUGE even though it looks tiny on the screen - so click on it to see all the details of the pages.

These photos are from last Christmas with my kids - so no, I'm not that fast that I'm already doing this years! LOL! Ashley loves Curious George and was thrilled to get another little monkey in her stocking last year along with a fluffy kitty. So, naturally I pulled out Melanie's monkey from her first GinaK stamp set Just so Hippy and her sweet kitties from Cuddles and Hugs because they fit so 'purrfectly' with my photo! Sorry, I couldn't resist...

All the pages that I'll be sharing were make with Basic Grey's Cupcake 6x6 paper pack & embellishments. The images were all stamped in Black Versafine ink on GinaK's 80lb. Pure Luxury Cardstock and embossed with detail clear embossing powder and then colored with Copic markers. The sentiments were all stamped & embossed and then cut out with a Nestability die that fit the sentiment. And, I had no problem finding a matching die for all of her sentiments - I love that!

My son Isaiah is into Legos and Star Wars BIG TIME. This was his favorite present last year - just look at his excitement in his smile! Priceless to me! I couldn't help but think of Melanies adorable Zebra from my very favorite Melanie stamp set Jumping for Joy. I LOVE all the animals in this set - especially this zebra. He is so cute - and the sentiment... well, it's just perfect for so many occasions!

Be sure to hop over to see what all these gals have been working on with Melanie's stamps - I can't wait to see what they've all come up with!!

And, don't forget to enter to win a chance at an awesome stamp prize!

Have a great rest of your day,
Jessica
