Warm & Cozy Christmas Card Kit

(click on photo for a closer, more detailed look)

Welcome to the GinaK Blast from the Past blog hop event!  All week, several GinaK designers will be participating by sharing projects that we've made from older GKD stamp sets that haven't had exposure for awhile.  We know we have lots of new customers who may have never seen some of the 'older' stamp sets, so Gina has challenged everyone to pull out some of our favorites and show them off all week on our blogs.

I've chosen 5 stamp sets that I adore and have designed card kits around them that will be available for purchase Thursday night, after our little Blast from the Past Release Party we'll have on StampTV.  One of those kits will be included for free with the purchase of the stamp set like always, while the other 4 will be available for purchase.  I decided to start with this Christmas Card Kit that I designed for a favorite GinaK stamp set of mine called Warm and Cozy Christmas.*
*This is a kit that will be available for purchase.  The free set will debut on Thursday night on my blog.

The group shot photo shows all the projects that the kit instructions and supplies will make.  I've decided in these newest card kits to do my best to show even more projects than I have in the past.  Each new kit features 5 projects, rather than just 3 cards, as I've shown before.

Warm and Cozy Christmas Kit Contents:
  • 5 Sheets of GinaK cardstock: heavy base white, black onyx, turquoise sea, lipstick red, green apple
  • Silver easy set eyelets
  • 1 yard satin polka dot black ribbon
  • Detailed instruction sheet for 6 projects shown in photo

Let's look at each project in detail.  The kit instructions will have all the measurements along with the specific supplies (including Copic markers) for each project.  I'll share a few notes about each one as we browse together.

While designing this first card, I wanted to show a rather quick, but elegant Christmas card that is fairly flat and would be easy to mail without any extra postage.  The ribbon treatment is a new favorite of mine and is made by laying a strip of 1/4" Scor-Tape down and add the ribbon directly to the tape, folding it into pleats as you go along.  Super simple - and no need for a bulky bow!

I love this second card with the sweet images from the stamp set looking as if they are peeking out a window.  I stamped the images on white cardstock and using a 1 3/8" square punch, punched out the section of the image that I wanted to highlight and framed it with a 1 1/2" square.   They were then layered onto the green apple cardstock and scored 1/4" strips on the bottom.  Then, I stuck a piece of 1/8" Scor-Tape in between the scored lines and sprinkled clear glitter over the tape.

I think this one is my favorite of the bunch, because I love the colors all pieced together like a cozy Christmas quilt.  Each paper is embossed with a different folder and the sentiment just pops in white over all the colors.  This card shows a great way to use up scraps, because the colors could easily be swapped out.  Another super quick and flat 'mail-able' Christmas card that I plan on making more of for my own stash.

This card's focal image is the adorable little boy pulling his Christmas tree with his sled.  It's a gorgeous image that is so fun to color.  But, don't feel like you have to take the time to color it, if you want to mass produce this card.  You could easily stamp the image in turquoise or even green ink and it would be adorable!

The final card in the bunch, shows off my favorite image - the little girl with her snowman.  It's so sweet and again, super fun to color.  Remember though, that as I said in the little boy card, it certainly doesn't have to be colored to still be adorable.  I left this one sentiment free, because it could easily be a birthday, thinking of you, or general winter card since the only thing 'Christmasy' about this image is the candy cane - and my daughter likes to eat candy canes all winter! lol!

The last project is a tag, that could be used on the front of a card or even as a gift tag.  The ribbon was tied in the sample, but as you can see the ribbon is pretty long and could be tied into a bow if using on a card or tied to a bag handle if used for a gift tag.  In this project, I stamped the image on colored cardstock without doing any coloring just to show as I mentioned earlier how adorable the image itself is - so, you can see that no coloring really is required!

Over the next couple of days, I will be updating the StampTV Idea Center to add a Class Kit category, so I can share at even more length some coloring tips along with additional samples that can be made with the supplies provided in each kit.  Once it's all ready, I'll be sure to let you know on my blog as well as on StampTV!

The entire GinaK Designs team would like to invite you to the virtual Release party we'll be having this Thursday, August 5th on StampTV.  It will be a bit different than our usual release party, but we'll still have challenges, contest questions, and designer samples that you won't want to miss out on!  More information on that event will be shared by GinaK soon, so stay tuned to her blog for all the details this week.

Enjoy the hop!
