Summer Memories

Welcome to another GinaK blog hop event!

Tonight, Gina has challenged her design to make a project for tonight's hop with a summer memory as the inspiration, being sure to use one of the new stamp sets just released a few weeks ago.  While deciding what to make for tonight's hop, I decided to pull a photo from a few years ago of myself with my kids at one of our favorite summer activities: miniature golf!

I used the Botanicals stamp sets to make a scrapbook page that I'll be adding to my 9x9 scrapbook album.  I've been loving getting back into scrapbooking again and love how easy it is to incorporate stamps into my pages as the perfect embellishments!

Project Details
Stamps: Botanicals
Cardstock: GinaK; October Afternoon
Ink: Vivid
Other: Spellbinder Eyelet pendat die; ribbon; stickles; sewing machine; buttons; felt; Quikutz scallop die

The flowers from the Botanicals stamp set are so pretty and easy to use.  I inked them with a couple of Vivid inks and stamped on GinaK's white cardstock and then trimmed around them, leaving a white border to help them pop.  After adhering them to the bottom of my page, I used some diamond stickles to make them sparkle.  I even added some stickles to the buttons.

Every year, we spend some time at a waterpark in Wisconsin Dells and always make it a point to go to Pirates' Cove to go mini golfing.  The kids love it and we usually end up having at least one of us get a hole in one.  On this particular day, it was my turn!  The mini golf course is always beautiful with waterfalls, flowers, and lots of fun 'piratey' theme statues.  The colors of the photo were so bright, I changed the photo to black and white to help the focus go back to us.

I used a Spellbinder Eyelet Lace die for my journaling.  I layered a yellow circle die under the white die cut, to help tie in the yellows I used on my layout.  This page also fits my current StampTV Scrapbook Saturday challenge - using a black and white photo with colored embellishments.  You can view that discussion HERE.

Next, is a super quick card that uses a couple of extra flowers that I stamped for my scrapbook page but didn't end up using.  Since I already had my Ranger Alcohol inks and tools on my table, I made this summery sky and grass background mat.  I'm sure you're shocked to see MORE polished stone on my blog tonight, aren't you?!  lol!

While thinking about summer memories, part of my favorite thing about this season is the beautiful sunshine days and green, lush lawns that are prevalent.  My mom always had beautiful flowers and bushes in our yard (and still does).  I, however, have a black thumb and don't even try to grow anything outside.  I can only make pretty flowers with papers and inks ... lol!
