SNSS: Snowman Soup

Good morning!

Today is the last day of the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps September release blog hops!  We've been pretty busy this week sharing lots of samples with all the new stamp sets that Korin just released for this month and I hope you've enjoyed seeing them all as much as I've enjoyed making them!  I'm happy to have some cards for my Christmas stash - always need lots of those on hand, don't you?

Today, we are showing Diane's newest SNSS stamp set called Snowman Soup and boy, is it ever adorable!  The snowmen and sentiments (not to mention the fun font she used for them!) are just too much fun to play with...

I've made three cards for today's hop because I couldn't stop playing with the stamp set once I got started!  I stamped the images in Memento ink on Copic Xpress it blending card stock and colored with Copics, trimming them out and began playing with papers to see what 'evolved.'

For my first card, I layered the largest snowman over a strip of patterned paper that I cut a notch out from the bottom to make a banner.  The grey paper is embossed with a musical note impression plate and then stitched on the card front.  Some stone baker's twine matched the paper and grey in the image nicely so I wrapped it around the card front a couple of times and tied a quick bow.

My next card is a bit smaller than a usual one - it's 3.75 x 5 since the tiny snowman in the cup is a smaller image.  I layered him on one of SNSS's bookmark dies and grounded it a bit with a tiny strip of soft stone card stock embellished with a couple of pearls.  I stamped the sentiment on white card stock and free hand cut around it and popped it up for interest.

The background paper is embossed with a holly impression plate.  I like to spritz my card stock very lightly with water before running both the holly and music note impression plate through my die cutting machine because it helps to deepen the embossing.  Most of my impression plates give me a deep enough embossed look except for these two, so the water softens the paper enough to make it a bit deeper.

I added some seaweed baker's twine wrapped around the card front since it matched the greens in the paper so well.  On my computer screen they don't look like they match as well as they in person...

My last card uses the other SNSS bookmark die for the hot chocolate snowman mug base.  I popped up the cut and stamped the whipped cream and steam directly on the bookmark die and color just a bit with Copics.  I stitched the patterned paper to the card front and embellished with a seam binding ribbon bow.  Such a quick and easy card to make!  My favorite kind!
