Sweet Cherry Pie...

Good morning!

Yesterday's cards inspired me to get my Colored Pencils out again last night and color! I wanted to get the edges of the images a little darker to add more depth, so I used my Memento Markers along with my Koh-i-noor pencils. Any markers will work, of course - but since I have the Memento ones on my desk next to my colored pencils, I decided to try them.

I stamped the Magnolia images in Black Memento Ink onto Georgia Pacific cardstock and then using the Koh-i-noor pencils, Odorless Mineral Spirits, and blending stumps I colored the entire image. For the face of this little gal, I used some new Lyra Skin tones colored pencils that I recently found at Dick Blick's store in Chicago. I love the colors in the Koh-i-noor selection, but they don't have any skin tones colors.

Here's a close up of the little gal...

If you look closely (you should always be able to click on my photos to make them appear larger on your screen) you can see the darker edges of the stamped lines. After coloring with the colored pencils, I used both tips of the Memento markers to trace - using the fine tip for the tiny areas and the brush tip for larger.

I was amazed by how it made the colors just pop! On the areas where I felt like the marker line was too dark, I took the pencils again and blended more color to soften the lines.

Did you notice the 'wall' that she is sitting on? While shopping at our local Scrapbooking Store (Scrapbook Superstore for all of my Madison friends) this Sunday, I picked up several of the QuicKutz embossing folders. They have some really fun designs that the Cuttlebug embossing folders don't offer - so I was thrilled to add a couple to my collection! This diamond pattern is one of those folders.

Here's the inside view - look at how perfect GinaK's Sweetest Blessings stamp set works with this card. The flower paper strip is another QK embossing folder. I colored the pie the same way as the other images.

One quick note on combining markers with Colored Pencils... you can use Copics with pencils, but you should always use Copics FIRST so the waxy lead found in the colored pencils doesn't harm your marker tips. Since I don't always think that far in advance, I usually use my Waterbased (Dye) markers instead - lol!

Also, Gina has added two new StampTV episodes this morning that you have GOT to see. She is working with Stazon inks & Tiles to make gorgeous coasters and shows how to make a perfect storage box for four of them with the large clear boxes we sell at GinaK Designs.

She brought her project into work yesterday and we couldn't stop checking them out! They make quick and easy - and inexpensive gifts... and, it's the season for gifts again, isn't it? With school winding down, I've been looking for perfect thankyou gifts just like these for all the teachers who have spent so much time this past year helping my kids. So, this project comes at the perfect time for me!

Have a great day!
Jessica

Oh how adorable!! I love apple things too! LOL Thank you for the awesome tip... I had no idea other embossing folders worked in my cuttlebug. I'm gonna go check those out! My guess is they will work in my Big Shot too 'cause I use that more than the bug now. Thanks!

Hi, Jessica - just thought I'd pop in a say hello and tell you how adorable this little girl is. I still love my Koh-i-noors and OMS even though the Copics have taken their place a lot recently. Hope you are having a good day!
