Shrinky Dink Butterflies

Good morning!

I needed a reminder of spring today because we got over 8 inches of snow yesterday in Stoughton! Ahh... winter - yuck!! I wasn't feeling very well yesterday, so ended up staying home and keeping the kids home with me because I didn't want to deal with driving them to their country school on the snow-covered roads.

I sent them out around 10:00 in the morning to start shoveling and after about 30 minutes, my son came in and declared there was "too much snow - we can't do it all!" So, I put on my shoes and coat, and took out a tape measure to see how much snow we had on our sidewalk and it measured up to the 9 inch mark! Yikes! That is a lot of snow for two little kids to try to tackle themselves! LOL!

So, I took some more medicine and went out with them to shovel the sidewalk. We came in and took a break for a while before we went back out to tackle the driveway. It took at least 3 times for us to get it all taken care of because I just wasn't feeling up to tackling all that snow at once! Brad picked a great day to go to work, didn't he? LOL!

So, ANYWAY... I wanted to share a card today that reminds us of spring. So, this butterfly card I made with GinaK's Free with Three Take Flight stamp set and some shrinky dink plastic. Here's a close up of the shrink art butterflies all ready to flit right off the card....

This was a super quick card. I used my Petite Oval Nestability to emboss the oval shape on GinaK's 120 lb. Pure Luxury cardstock. Then, I stamped the butterfly in Black Versafine ink and clear embossed it and colored it in with Copic markers.

I punched a hole on each end of the oval and threaded some black and gold grosgrain ribbon through it. The sentiment was stamped on SU's sage shadow cardstock and embellished with some clear rhinestones in the corners.

The 2 little butterflies were stamped in Stazon Black ink and then cut out. I used a few Copic markers to color the back of the cut out butterflies. Remember - Stazon and Copics do NOT work well together. That's why I colored on the back. Then, I took my Heat Tool and zapped it until it shrunk down. While it was still hot, I molded the wings upward to make them look like they were ready to take off!

Have a great day and I hope you are warm wherever you are today!!

What a beautiful card! I've got to dig my shrinky-dink sheets out - I know I have them tucked in the back of the closet somewhere!!

Hope you stay warm and snuggly inside today!

Sorry about the snow and your cold. I hope you're feeling better. And I hope you don't end up getting the additional 2-4" we're supposed to get tomorrow. I'm so done with winter!!!!
