Good Friday has arrived - a somber yet joyous holiday for Christians around the world. I attended my kid's Spring Program last night at their Christian school and was blessed to hear from all the students' songs, readings, and memorized verses focusing on the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
It began with an adorable Easter themed version of Jesus Loves Me that the Kindergarten - 1st grade sang to us. Instead of singing 'the Bible tells me so' at the end of each verse on how we know Jesus loves me, they sang ' Easter tells me so.' Isn't that the truth? "No greater love hath a man, that he lay down his life for his friend." Yet, mankind was not a friend to Jesus when He died! Such love He demonstrated for us!
I created my card with the thoughts of Jesus resurrection in my mind. I'm so very thankful for His death on the cross for my sins, the fact that He rose again is where our Hope really lies. My Savior isn't on the cross any longer! Because He lives, we live. Life after death - the life of spring after the death of winter... which is why Spring is my favorite season. Things begin to grow again - flowers bloom, trees blossom, and the grass turns green again!
I used my favorite Layers of Color stamp: Floral Frame as the focal image on my card. I stamped the frame once in Cocoa ink on yellow card stock and on Copic Xpress it blending card stock. After die cutting the yellow frame with the coordinating Spellbinder die (with my Grand Calibur), I colored the flowers and leaves and cut them out to layer them on the frame. As you can see, I couldn't resist tucking in a little chick and eggs from Layers of Color Rise and Shine among the flowers.
I'd like to invite you to go to the Layers of Color blog to see more cards that the design team have prepared specifically for Easter. You will be able to click on the links to their blogs for more information and the inspiration behind the cards as well.
Have a blessed Good Friday.
Jessica
