Elegant Anniversary wishes

Good morning!

I haven't had the chance to do a lot of stamping this summer, but now that fall is here and school has begun I'm hoping my schedule will allow it more often.  I was extremely busy preparing for school this summer that is was so hard for me to switch focus and stamp.  I have a one track mind and it's not easy for me to stop a project until I'm finished with it!  lol!  At any rate, while looking through my computer recently I found this card that I can't remember if I shared here on my blog or not.  If I did - sorry!  But, it's one of my favorites, so I don't think you'll mind.

I made it using stamps from Layers of Color which has since ceased from business as Laura and Nina are now designing for Penny Black and The Craft's Meow (Nina) so they aren't available for purchase at this time, so no links to my products used today.  I used some Spellbinder Label dies to make this shaped anniversary card for my parents.  I don't do that often but should since it's such a unique look.

I colored the image with Copics and added some shading with Tim Holtz's distress inks.  Seam binding ribbon and pearls seemed the perfect accents for this anniversary card.

Have a great day!  Thanks for checking in on me!

Congratulations!

Good morning!

While looking through cards to share with you today, I came across this older card that I never shared here with you on my blog.  Unfortunately, the images aren't available any longer since they are from Layers of Color but I still thought I'd share it.  I stamped the beautiful flower image in versamark and embossed with white embossing powder on light purple paper and then colored the image with Copics.  I love that technique and need to use it more often!

Purple isn't a normal color for me to use but I love this sweet Lily Bee Designs patterned paper with it's soft shades of blues and purples.  A bit of stitching, seam binding ribbon, and lace finished the card off.

Have an enjoyable rest of your day!

God understands

Hi there!

It's been rather quiet here on my blog this past week - sorry about that!  I finally spent some time in my stamping room this weekend getting ready for The Craft's Meow February release which will be on the 20th.  We have several fun stamp sets that we'll begin sharing with you in a few days leading up to them being available for purchase, but in the meantime I thought I'd share this card I created this past fall using some Layers of Color stamp sets.

As you  may know by know, LOC is no longer in existence as a company as Laura (the owner) has been hired by another stamp company who will carry several of LOC's favorite stamp sets from both Laura and Nina as well as the new ones they have been working on developing for them!  I can't wait to see what they end up carrying from the original LOC line... I hope it includes the 3 I used on this card: Encouragement, The Love Chapter, and Silk Moth.

Card details
Stamps: Encouragement, The Love Chapter, Silk Moth (Layers of Color)
Ink: Tsukeniko and Stampin Up
Card stock: Stampin Up
Other: Spellbinder dies; sewing machine; Quikutz embossing folder; distressing tool; daubers; paper piercer

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend - thanks for checking in on me!

An Exciting Announcement:

Today's the day I can share my exciting news with you - I've been selected to join the 2012 design team for The Twinery!   If you have followed my designs for anytime you know how much I love The Twinery's twine, so for me it's match made in heaven to work for them!  In honor of my announcement, I thought I'd share a couple of cards with you from my collection that I created using my beloved twine and stamps.

One of my favorite ways to use twine is to wrap it around a card front panel like I did above - usually wrapping it three times.  I added a little double bow to the sentiment tag too.  Even though this is a rather 'elegant' card, the stone twine works well, I think!  (The stamp set I used is called God's Purpose from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.)

Here I used it by wrapping cappuccino twine three times around the kraft card stock and tying it in a bow.  I really like how 'flat' twine is - it makes it so easy to mail your projects out without having the added bulk of a regular ribbon bow.  (The stamp set I used on this card is Warm Winter Wishes from The Craft's Meow.)

My last card shows how fun it is to use twine to 'thread' buttons. I used mandarin orange twine - I how bright this orange is! - for this card.  (The stamp set on this card is called Rise and Shine with sentiments from Artful Endearments from Layers of Color.)

Here's a full list of all the new designers being announced today - I'm honored to be working with them this year!  Be sure to stop by The Twinery's blog as they are having an awesome give away in honor of the new team:

Thanks for sharing in my excitement and be sure to check in as many of my fellow designers as you can - you're going to love their work, I'm sure of it!

Have a great day

Bright Future: Happy New Year!

Hi there!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and loved ones!  I have been enjoying myself and have been taking some time to just relax and enjoy my family.  It's such a joy not to have to be anywhere or do anything specific - just to hang out...  Normally, I only have a few days off around Christmas but now with teaching I feel so spoiled having almost 2 weeks off from work!

My card today using a few Layers of Color stamp sets: Encouragement and Fruitful Harvest. In light of the end of 2011 and looking forward to 2012 - I thought this sentiment was fitting for this season!

Glad tidings of Peace

Merry Christmas Eve, my friends!

While designing my card, I wanted to use this sentiment "Glad Tidings of Peace" included in the new Glad Tidings stamp set because of the thoughts which that particular phrase brings to mind.  It seems as if the whole world is longing for peace but is unaware or not willing to go to the Prince of Peace to obtain true peace.

The angels declared the arrival of the Prince of Peace to the world on the night of His birth....

Luke 2: 13-14
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!

While thinking about that announcement of peace, I was drawn to a couple of my favorite passages that I meditate on when I am in need of peace or comfort...

John 14: 1 - 6
Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you and if I go to prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you to myself, that where I am there you may be also.
Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?"  Jesus said unto Him, "I am the way, the truth, and the Life.  No one comes to the Father, except through Me."

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Hebrews 13: 5-6
... be content with such things as you have.  For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."  So that we may boldly say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.  What can man do to me?"

**********

If you are going through a difficult time right now, I encourage you to turn to the Prince of Peace and meditate on these verses.  Our loving Savior is waiting for you and is able to give peace to your heart.

Merry Christmas Eve!
Jessica

Let Your Dreams Soar

Hi there!

I have a card to share with you today that I made using a couple of Layers of Color stamp sets.  The butterfly and sentiment are from Fairy Wishes and the doily is from Beautiful Lace.  I love the vintage feel of this card.  Layers of Color stamps just beg to be used with lace, flowers, and lots of layers, I think!

Card Details
Stamps: Fairy Wishes and Beautiful Lace (LOC)
Ink: Versafine
Cardstock: DCWV textured gold; SU solid; The Paper Studio Mirabella dp
Other: Spellbinder Fancy tags; Wild Orchid flowers; SU tafetta ribbon; lace; Fiskars border punch; corner rounder; sewing machine

Sorry I've been MIA the past few days.  I have cards to share but didn't have time go online to get my posts up and going.  I'm done with school now for the Christmas holidays - what a blessing that is!  I'm so thankful to have the same schedule as my kids now that I'm back teaching and plan on enjoying the next several days home with them.  Big bonus for us is that my husband has vacation time too, so we're all home together until after the New Year!

I hope your Christmas preparations are about done and that you are able to relax and enjoy the weekend of festivities.  I think I'm finally done shopping - I finished up this morning.  Now, it's on to wrapping and finishing up some Christmas cards and getting photos developed to put in the cards... but, I'm not too stressed about it.  If the cards get sent out the week after Christmas, that's just the way it will have to be, I guess.  Most of my cards are hand delivered anyway, so I'l be able to give many of them away this weekend.

Have a wonderful night - thanks for stopping by!
