Day 2 Previews: Happy Spring and By Your Side

Good evening!

I'm so excited about tonight's previews because I get to share my next card kit with you tonight!  This month's card kit stamp set is called Happy Spring and each purchase of this stamp set during the next month will automatically come with the materials included to make the three cards shown in the photo above.

Unlike the last few kits, the cardstock will NOT be pre-cut which means more paper and more flexibility for our customers.  This kit includes 4 sheets of Pure Luxury card stock, 1 sheet of patterned paper with 4 exclusive quarter sheet designs, 1 yard of ribbon, some silver brads as well as the printed instructions and the Happy Spring stamp set all for $19.95!

Let's see a close up of each of my sample cards ...

The flower pot was paper pieced with Green Apple card stock and then shaded with YG91 and YG93 copic markers.  I used the same two markers along with YG95 on the seed packets that were paper pieced with the polka dot patterned paper included in the kit.

The patterned quarter sheets included in this kit were so much fun to work with!  I used 3 of the papers for the card mats, and the fourth pattern was used for paper piecing and paper punches on all three of the cards.  I think the polka dot design worked great for these gardening gloves and hat shown on this second card...

After stamping the gloves and hat in Memento ink on the polka dot paper, I shaded with the same three Copic markers as I use on my first card to match GinaK's Green Apple card stock.

The last card in the kit uses this adorable Wishing Well image.  To make the water from the pump appear icy cold, after coloring with Copic Markers BG000 and BG10, I traced over the lines with Frosted Lace Stickles.  Using the nozzle of the stickles bottle, I spread the glitter glue around a bit to cover the entire pool of water.

You may have noticed that although I said that Silver brads were included in the kit, my sample cards all show colored brads.  That's because I used my Copic markers to shade the silver brads to match the card stocks!  On this card, I used Copic Marker V15 to make purple brads and on the striped card above, I used YG95 to make green brads.  The really cool thing about using silver brads as the base is that the brads actually look very bright and vibrant in person!

Marvy Flower Punch: orange - standard
The beauty of this kit is that since the card stocks included in the kit are not pre-cut, you have more options with it!  Check out this paper mache bag that I bought at JoAnne's recently and decorated with elements of the kit...

You can see that I used many of the same products listed above that I used on my cards as well as some others to embellish this little gift box.  I used a pencil eraser and some white dye ink to make my own polka dot paper with GinaK's Green Apple card stock and a border punch to make a 'faux' fence.  Rather than having the seed packets in the flower pot, I made my own flower with the circle punches...

Isn't that fun?  I have lots more ideas to share with you with this kit - so watch my blog for those later this week!

We are also showcasing Asela Hopkin's new stamp set tonight too!  It's called By Your Side and it's really quite beautiful...

I chose to use this Vase of Calla-Lillies for my card tonight and used this Labels 8 Nestability die for my card shape.  The font Asela choose for her sentiments is really delicate and so pretty!

Card Details
Stamps: By Your Side
Cardstock: Moonlit fog, white, DCWV patterned
Ink: Black Versafine
Other: Detail Clear embossing, Copic Markers, Diamond stickles, Labels 8 nestability, organdy ribbon

When I make these shaped cards, I cut two identical shapes for the card base.  I use one shape for the card front and score the second die cut at about 1/2" from the top and apply a strip of 1/4" ScorTape for the fold.  This way the card front shows the full die cut shape.
