Metallic Butterfly

Hi!

Today's card was a labor of love to say the least... I had in my mind what I was trying to accomplish, but it never quite got there. However, I like how it ended up and learned a few things in the process, so it all turned out fine.

After embossing the Petite Nestability on GinaK's 120lb. Pure Luxury cardstock, I added some Metallic Rub-on Paste to the edges of the cardfront. I hated how it turned out because it wasn't the soft look I wanted. Gina suggested adding some Odorless Mineral Spirits to the paste to help blend it out. OMS blends the wax in Colored Pencils beautifully and since Rub-on paste is so waxy it worked great!

Now, my entire card front is a silvery gray! Pretty cool, huh?

Because my card front was now gray, I had to alter what I was originally going to do with the card. I used another Basic Grey paper pack, but since I'm not at home right now I can't remember which one it was... I used 3 different patterns that had some grays in them.

The butterfly was stamped in Black Versafine and clear embossed with detail clear embossing powder and then cut out. Since I stamped it on patterned paper, I didn't need to take the time to color it in. The sentiment was stamped and embossed the same was as the butterfly. Both images are from Gina's free with three stamp set Take Flight.

Finally, the scallop Petite nestability was cut out and rubbed with Metallic rub-on paste along the embossed edges. Black and mini clear rhinestones and a retired SU black striped ribbon finish it off.

Isn't it fun when you learn stuff along the way? Using OMS with Rub-on paste opens several new possibilities for me to try out in the future... I can't wait to try out a few other things with these two products!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
Jessica
