Seasonal Sayings!

Good morning!

Today's cards are some more Christmas ones that I shared last week during GinaK's Release party. I love sentiments and this stamp set Seasonal Sayings works so well with a lot of other Christmas stamp sets that I already have. But, sometimes I like to let the sentiment act as the main 'character' on my cards - especially when it's written with a pretty font.

And, right now, I'm loving the mixed font look! I really like it when script words are mixed with printed words... don't you? That's probably why I love this set so much along with Gina's new Tree Silhouette set.

For these cards, I pulled out my long nestabilities and cut out the plain shapes for the sentiments. I stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black and embossed with detail clear embossing powder. By adding embossing, it makes the sentiment pop more than just plain stamping in black ink.

The snowflakes are cut from another piece of this Cosmo Cricket designer paper pack. It coordinated pretty well with Stampin Up's ruby red, cameo coral, and chocolate chip papers. To add more distressing, I sanded the edges of the designer paper with my Tim Holtz sanding block.

At today's Christmas Stamp a Stack, we'll make a variation of one of these cards. Aren't those shabby snowflakes fun? They are punched from Marvy's Giga & Mega Snowflake Punches. Punches like these make mass producing Christmas cards a breeze too!

So, how's your Christmas card making going? I haven't really begun mass producing them yet. I did make 48 birthday cards this weekend for my Sunday School class kids. Yes, we really do have nearly 48 kids in our 4 going on 5 year old classroom! They don't all come to the same service, thank goodness!! heehee.. can you imagine?

Our room is the LeapFrog room, so I got to use my Stampin Up Unfrogettable stamp set for them! Of course I forgot to take photos, so I can't share them with you - sorry! I'll try to remember to grab one and take a photo to show one day on my blog. But making them got me thinking about how many Christmas cards I've got to get going on making! I usually make well over 100 cards to send out - but I'm not sure how many I'll do this year.

Have you started your Christmas card stash yet? I'd love to hear how many cards you have to make and which stamp set you'll be using. Misery loves company, right? But, let's make this fun by offering some blog candy...

Leave me a comment on this post by Sunday, November 23rd at 10:00 pm on how many cards you'll be making for Christmas and you'll be entered to win a free GinaK Winter Themed Stamp set of your choice - valued at $18.95.

Good luck!

Jessica

  1. Am I really the first comment? Wow! Well, I've made 25 cards and Ihave about 5-10 more to go. I've used a couple SU! stamp sets, a couple Kim Hughes' stamp sets, and tomorrow I plan on using Gina K.'s Funky Christmas set for the rest! Actually, I have a few images from a swap that I may use. But I may just keep them to color sometime instead!

  2. First your blog is wonderful and so inspiring. Enjoy the new community "planet" for stampers. This year just for kids and grandkids I need 15. I made money envelopes last year but think this year I will do regular Christmas Cards and put a little pocket on the inside for their money gift. For everyone else I will need at least another 30.

  3. Well it is starting to LQQK like Christmas here - we got our first snowfall over night :o( I am going to use " Lovely as Tree",
(StampinUp) for my Christmas card this year as I have never used it as a Christmas card before. Add some glitter and a bow and all done. Have a great day. Hugs n' Stuff, Lynne

  4. I always get in the mood to make Christmas cards at Christmas time then it's too late to send them. I have several made from last year and from my work at Hero Arts this year. I don't send out handmade cards to my list(over 150 now), just a few friends and teachers to accompany the gifts from my kids. Maybe 10 all together?

  5. I usually make about 60 cards and I haven't even started yet! My plan is to get started this weekend!!

  13. I just went to a Christmas Stamp a Stack and made 20 cards. I plan to make at least 25 more. I used Stampin Up sets for those cards. The next batch I will be using some of Gina's new sets as well as some new sets from Flouishes. I love making Christmas cards!

  14. I need to make about 30-35 handmade Christmas cards this year. I use a huge variety of stamp sets from Stampin' Up, Hero Arts, Penny Black, Stampabilities,...and the list goes on. I like to mix things up a bit.

  15. I have started on Christmas cards. I have to make around 100 and I am party way there. Beautiful cards!

  16. I will be making about 55-60 cards this year. 30 for my DD and 25-30 for myself. Haven't quite got my card list complete yet, so far I have 23 but I know there will be 2-8 more after I go thru my church roster to see who I missed.

  17. Great cards again, as usual! I usually make between 50-75 cards and I have about 20 of them made right now, mostly because I made 12at an SU stamp-a-stack a couple of weekends ago!
I usually try to do one or two designs that I mass produce but this year I am going to do a number of different cards, mostly because I have so many Christmas stamp sets! I plan to use Magic of Christmas, Warm and Cozy Christmas, Winter Foliage, Let it Snow and Christmas Blessings -- all from Gina K. Designs. I also want to use Peace to the World and Love & Joy from Stampin' Up. The cards from the stamp-a-stack are made with some of the new SU Christmas sets but I don't have any of those and can't recall the names of them right now. It's fun to have so many choices of sets but sometimes I feel sort of overwhelmed and don't know which one to use first! I just love Christmas so I really love to make cards at this time of year despite feeling a bit confused about which set to use and what to create with it! Ah, the problems of stampers . . . :)

  18. Well, I'm not 100% sure of how many I'll be making but I would say a good guess is about 30-40. Maybe even closer to 50. I'm planning some images from an image swap plus I have an inkadinkadoo set I'll be using also. I have a few made up already from challenges that I have participated in so that helps.

  19. I usually send out around 50 or so Christmas cards. I haven't started them yet, but I did make some Christmas tags using a Hero Arts set. My main Christmas cards will include a picture of my son who is 15 months old. I need to get a picture taken and then start the cards after that. So much to do and so little time!

  20. Christmas cards???hmmm....maybe only a few because we always do picture cards of the kiddos for relatives..TFS....Kathy Hering...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Great Christmas card! I love that you used dp for the snowflakes!
I will probably make around 50.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I just love the color combo on your cards today... they look yummy!

My holiday stash... not even started! I have 124 cards to make and I don't know where to begin. I know I'm using some WS cutsie ones for some, but I also want to do some vintage ones too. I have the Saturday Night Post Santa with the boy on his lap... but coloring 124 of those is totally out of the question. I think I'll need more stamps!!! :)

  23. How many I need and how many I will make are quite different stories. I would like to at least make some cards for my closest friends and family

    ReplyDelete
  24. I've made 18 Christmas cards so far, I also had some photocards printed, and then I'll figure out how many more cards I'll need...

  25. I had aspirations of having my Christmas cards done by now but that didn't work out. I need about 40 cards maybe even a few more than that. Guess I better figure out what I'm doing? Thanks for the blog candy offer.

  26. Wow! Both of your cards are amazing!! I've been making a few Christmas cards a week and have done maybe 15. I haven't counted up how many I need but my guess is probably in the 40's so I'd better get cracking! LOL

  27. Oh these cards are just gorgeous Jessica! What yummy paper that is! And love those punched snowflakes!

I only make about 10 'good' cards, and then I do about 20 quickies I call them, lol!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I usually make only about 10 to 20 cards at Christmas. I don't send a card to everyone I know, only family and close friends who live out of the area. thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Gorgeous cards Jessica! I love that you used a non-traditional colour scheme. I love making Christmas cards but I'm seriously behind this year! Typically it's close to 25 per year but this year it will be more since we now live 3000km from all our family and friends.

  30. Beautiful cards, Jessica. WOW, that was a ton a cards to make. I need to make about 30 Christmas cards, and I haven't even started them yet. I have to get busy. Thank you for the chance to win and all of your wonderful inspiration.

  33. I've only done a rough mental count so far (I've got to get that computer list done!) but I think I'm going to need something like 150 Christmas cards this year. About a third are completed.

  34. Love these cards! I am so enjoying all of your designs. I am making 60 cards this year....I have only made about 20 so I really need to get busy !

    Love your blog!

  35. I know this is horrible, but I'm not making my Christmas cards that I send out to people this year. Instead I am making sets of cards as Christmas gifts to give to the ladies in my family. I am making at least 7 sets of 8 cards for gifts--yikes! I need to stop blog hopping and get to work! Love your blog--great inspiration!

  36. Stamp-A-Stack gatherings have me well on the way in making about 75 cards. I have loved using GinaK's unique stamps as well as SU's. Jessica, you are such an inspirational and creative genius! You introduce the materials and ideas and launch your "students" into fun realms of card creations!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hi, I love your cards. They inspire me! I have made about 50 cards so far and probably have another 25 to go. I'm ahead this year and I love it. I want to continue making them early each year so that December is more enjoyable. Thanks for the blog candy.

  38. Christmas cards???? We're supposed to make them???? ;-) Well, I'll probably end up making about 50 one of these days....just need to pick out a design. I keep changing my mind. And my new Gina K stamps haven't arrived yet, so I'll probably see what inspiration hits me when those show up on my front porch.

    ReplyDelete
  39. A free GinaK stamp! What could be better? I'm making about 60 cards this year. Not all get mailed, luckily, but some are for Sunday school, choir, etc which I just hand out personally. And I haven't even started yet.....guess they'll be mostly mass produced!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Uh...I will make as many as I get done.... Could be 0, could be 50...

Your cards are great! Keep those ideas coming!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have already made 22 (went to a shoe box swap!) and have about 20 more to make. Still trying to figure out just what sets I am going to use!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Love those cards!! Beautiful!!! So far I have made 30 Christmas cards, and still going, but now it's just for fun...worst part yet to come...addressing them...lol.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well, I've got maybe 30-40 for personal Christmas/Holiday cards, and I've got about half of those done. Also trying to do a bunch more to send off to the Operation Quiet Comfort and Cards for Heroes groups. I use a mix of stamps - the Cat's Pajamas, Bellas, Hero Arts, Gina K, and I think some MFT & Magnolia (if they come in time).

  44. I really love your blog and your sense of humor. I have madeseveral and still have some to make....I had the seniors in the nursing home I work at making cards last week. I never know the number as I make alotas I go. Probably 30-35 or so. Thank you for sharing. Sharri C

  46. I am feeling very virtuous as I have had my cards made for about four weeks - I made 40, using two stamps from the SU city of David set, framing them with a scored line, and putting a wee bit of twinkling h2o's on the main image. Now I have to do the letter to go with them....

    ReplyDelete
  47. Love those snowflakes!

Offically, about 65 cards to make. But, there are always more at the spur of the moment, plus teachers, mailman, church etc.

This is the first year that we will be making all of ours and we've got about 6 done! The kids are helping and I'm amazed at what they make sometimes ! Good and bad! LOL It's fun though!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I will be making about 60 cards. I have made about 1/2. I usually make all different cards!! I don't like to mass produce cards!!! Beth

  51. Okay, last year I made 50 pretty simple cards, but this year I have waaaay more projects to complete for Christmas so that card list might have to be cut. So, I probably only do 49 cards this year, ha!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I have made about 45 cards so far for Christmas. I was at your class yesterday (my 1st) and really enjoyed the class. No hovering, no pressure, just fun and talking and laughing, plus taking home 12 beautiful cards. I learned some new techniques and plan on many more classes with you in the future.

  53. ohhh I love your card! For Christmas I usually make about 100 cards...don't know that I'll make that many this year...we're in the middle of a move...so I'm just not too motivated...although I do have about 50 or so already made!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I usually end up making about 60 cards each year for the holidays. Hubby has a lot of friends that do not celebrate Christmas, so I have to make a few a little different each year. I like to just mass produce a single design for the most part, but last year I branched out a bit and used some that I had in my stash :)

  56. I'm going to make about 20 cards using SU!'s Winter Post skaters to send to my family. Then I'm making two sets of cards as gifts for my mom (using a quilt set from Impression Obsession) and my uncle (using a seasonal outhouse stamp also from IO). THEN, assuming it's not already February, I'll make as many as I have time left to make! ;D Thanks for the great blog and the great blog candy!

  65. Wow, Jessica your cards are awesome. I have some of that DP and never thought of using for snowflakes. It looks really cool.

I am thinking about making cards for everyone (or mostly everyone) at work, plus my family, people at church and some RAKs for some cyber friends. I have to finish up an order of 100 cards for someone. Hopefully after that is done I can make maybe 50 to 75 or even 100 for me to send/give this year.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Your cards are beautiful. I love the colors and the snowflakes.

I have about 25 cards already made and will be making about 25 more. Mostly I recycle cards that I have received in years past, and I add embellishments to them. It's fun, easy, and good for the environment.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I agree, Jessica! There are times when I appreciate using the sentinment as the primary element on cards. I love your examples! And kudos to you for making so many b'day cards! That's a LOT of 4 & 5 year olds in Sunday School! Bless you!

    ReplyDelete
  68. This is the first time I've checked out your blog, it's fantastic!
I've made about 84 cards for Christmas...although most weren't for me! I had some people ask if I could make them bundles, so I made 4 bundles of 12, with 4 different cards! (I don't think I'll ever do that again....but I kept them simple). MY Christmas card is by GinaK...the little lobster dressed up as Santa..."Sandy Claus is coming to town". I bought it in June, I just fell in love with it!
Good luck with your 100 cards...remember K.I.S.S.- Keep It Simple Stamper!
